This is practically the prolonged version of a poem I wrote during our intramurals but back then this was only 4 stanzas with 4 lines each stanza because it was required albeit I could have written more so I did the extension at home :)
D.A.R.E. to Fly
Triumph starts merely for those who dream big
It's like a precious gem that you really have to dig
From deep down the earth where no one lies to see
A seed that someday could grow into a beautiful tree
And give us oxygen and food and branches for a bird's nest
To shield it from detriments and render it some space to rest.
But juvenile innocence only lasts for not too long
'Cause someday, this bird shall cope with life's rhythmic song.
On it's own it'll learn the will to fly high
Ere to it's mother thou shall bid goodbye
Something it might have thought implausible before
That's when fear has overcome the soul.
So how ironic it will be when it scares what is dreadful
By spreading wings so mightily and blissful
Zooming up the world where it discovers different tricks
Recreating what is known and reaching the highest peaks.
Soaring through the azure sky and ragged mountains above
Sealing its fate to the endowment it has grown to love.
Gliding passionately through thick and thin
Ignoring but not forgetting how sorrowful life has been.
Reminiscing it's failed attempts to break away
As well as the pain when the direction led astray.
And the sweet taste of its first flight
In the fulgent sight of skyscrapers at night.
Soon enough, it's astounding talent was recognized
By its fellows who were apparently mesmerized.
With colors this bird stands out amidst the rest
Excelling in it's field it was even deemed best.
This ballad I narrate to you, my dear reader,
To make you realize a lesson so true:
Dream big,
Achieve the impossible,
Recreate what you accomplished
and Excel more in your very own field.
That's the cycle a true victor must dare to yield.
