Mikasa POV
Last night I had to drag Annie home. I never knew she was a workaholic. I decided to stay at her place, mainly because it would make the trip to her dads house easier.
When I woke up, Annie was still asleep. She looks so cute when she sleeps. I let her sleep a little while more and made us breakfast.
As I was almost done, I felt Annie hug me from behind. I smiled softly.
"Good morning, sleepy head."
"Mmm morning." She replied, obviously still sleepy. I chuckled.
I put the food on the plates and set them down at the table.
"Thanks."
"No problem."
We ate in silence, not having anything to talk about. I got so lost in deep thought that Annie had to snap her fingers I front of my face to get my attention.
"Hey, is everything alright?" She asked, having a concerned look in her eyes.
"Yeah, I'm alright. Just deep in thought. I haven't really had time to think about the things that have happened." I said, taking her hand into mine.
We just stared into each other's eyes, stormy grey meets icy blue. Finally, after a couple of minutes I broke the silence.
"So....when do you want to go to your fathers house?"
"How about after I get ready?" She said, tilting head. I gave her a nod and grabbed our plates.
—time skip—
We walked hand in hand to Annie's fathers house. It took long than I expected to get there, but we made it.
I was about to walk up the steps, when Annie stopped dead in her tracks.
"Hey, are you ok?" I ask, cupping her face with my hands. She reached up and grabbed my hands, leaning into my touch.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just bad memories coming back." She replied with a small smile. I placed a kiss on her forehead.
Annie pulled her keys out of her pocket and walked towards the door, me followed close behind her. She hesitated before putting the key into the lock and opening the door.
Th door slowly swung open, revealing a narrow hallway with some jackets hanging on the wall to the left, a little table sitting on the right with a dish to put your keys in. Not to mention, all the walls were white.
"Welp, welcome to my house, I guess." She said, raising her arms in the air. She walked into the house, placing her keys in the dish. I followed in behind her, Closing the door behind me. I stared at the pictures hung in the hallway.
The little hallway ended, a pretty big kitchen was to the left with an island in the middle, the living room took up the majority of space on the right side, the dining table in front of the kitchen, a wall dividing them. A glass sliding door, leading to the backyard, laid almost directly across from the front door.
Annie stood in the middle of the house, taking a deep breath. She sighed, walking to the staircase, which was situated beside the living room.
"You ready to head upstairs?" She asked, placing one foot on the first stair. I nodded my head and followed her up the stairs.
We reached the top of the stairs, Annie turned to the left, the longest part of the hallway, and stopped at the second door. As I was walking towards Annie, a picture caught my eye. It was a family portrait, two parents who looked so happy with their daughter in between them.
"Ah, the good old days. When everything wasn't so fucked up." She said, startling me a little bit.
"If you don't mind me asking, what happened to your mom?" I asked, turning towards her.
"He killed her." She said with the straightest face, no emotion showing, while pointing at the man in the family photo. I looked back at it, now realizing everyone in the picture.
Annie ducked her head and walked back to the door she was once standing in front of. I walked up behind her, the door looked fine from a distance but up close it looks like someone had kicked it in.
"Damn it, I'm gonna have to fix that." Is all she said before walking into the room. The room was a mess, things were broken, holes in the walls, a fight must have happened in this room not to long ago.
"God dad, you made such a mess. This is supposed to be my room, but I guess he got mad and pretty much destroyed it." She said, rubbing her hands on her face.
"Looks like there's gonna be a lot of repairs before it can sell." I said, trying to lighten the mood. Annie let out a little laugh, causing my body to relax a bit.
"Let's check out my dads room. I've never been in there before so i don't know if it's a mess or not. I'm guessing it's a mess." She said, walking past me with a smirk.
The master bedroom, I'm guessing, is to the right from exiting out of Annie's room. She went to open the door, but something seemed to be stopping it from the other side.
"What the hell?". Annie pushed on the door some more, but it only budged a little.
"You may want to back up." She said, walking towards me. I got the hint right away and backed up to the staircase.
She got a safe distance away from the door and kicked it in. At first nothing happened, Annie regained her balance and the door just fell.
"Um... wow." Was all I could say. She just turned her head towards me and gave me a smirk.
Annie moved the door out of the way, leaning it against a wall. She was right, the room was a mess. Beer bottles were everywhere, they were blocking the door. How did he live in this? I thought.
"Man, this is gonna be hell.". She sat on a near by chair that hadn't been destroyed, running her hands over her face in frustration. I felt bad for her, having to deal with her fathers death and clean up his mess afterwards.
I knelt down I front of her and grabbed her hands into mine.
"Hey, we're going to get through this together. Ok?"
"Ok." She said in a quiet tone, nodding her head.

Yay, another chapter done. It's even longer, just over 1000 words. I really want to take this story into editing and change the story a bit so I have more to work with, but I think I'll wait till it's finished.
BTW, the gate got fixed. Even though you probably don't care😅.
