This is the last of the backlog, guys. Prompt is bolded.

"Every leaf held the life of a person that died here," Jax said. "I dunno why, but I thought that meant the leaves would look more alive." She looked at her twin. "Maybe I was wrong Jinx."
"If you were, it wouldn't have been the first time," Jinx said, ignoring Jax's protests at the insult. "But you weren't. The fact that all the leaves are dead means the curse has been broken."
"You say that like it's a bad thing, Jinxy" Jax nodded down at the town below. "Doesn't the curse breaking mean their souls and these go through the soul gates?"
"Possibly. But not very likely." Jinx held up her hand to silence Jax as she tried to question. "When a curse breaks, there is an energy release, and all that energy needs somewhere to go. The most likely destination in this case is to latch onto all of the souls leaving the tree."
"So the souls get corrupted–"
"And attack the surrounding area and people. We can hope that's not the case, but I'd be surprised if it wasn't." Jinx pulled out her knife and started to carve into the tree.
"You know, It's times like these when I'm glad we're only the eyes and ears of the Watchers." Jax said, watching her sister carve runes in the trunk of the tree. "I thought just the one rune was enough to signal the actual Watchers."
"It is," Jinx said, still carving. "But I'm trying to see if I can maybe do something to decrease the range of where the souls can go. I mean, it would probably only work if the souls still have some connection left with the tree, but it might still work anyway."
"So now they'll target us. Can we leave in case it actually works?"
"Yeah, that's probably a good idea."
