Rose p.o.v-

Today was another exhausting day for us at the bakery but we did not mind it a bit. It is Christmas and everyone loved the goodies and the decorations. They were happy so we were too. Closing the shop I was ready to head home. Buckling in the driver seat I began to drive. I was alone today as Becca had left early with grandma to decorate the home, later on she would come back with Charlie in our Christmas attire for the night feast. Grandpa too would be there by the time I reach home.

I was lost my thoughts that I did not realize that there was something lying on the road. By the time I noticed it was already too late. I pressed on the brakes and suffered from the backlash but thank god that I narrowly missed the thing. The car severed and finally came to a stop in the dirt on the wrong side of road. Thank god that I was driving under the speed limit and wearing seatbelt. I took two minutes to calm down my heart and finally gathered the courage to go outside. Opening the car door I slowly made my way to the body. I noticed that it was an animal and by the time I reached it my barely normal heart rate spiked once again. It was the body of a wolf. Gathering all of my courage I crouched and took a closer look. It was lying in pool of blood but was not dead...yet. I quickly ran back to my car opened the front door and took out the medical kit from the dashboard. I do not know how but with some difficulty I turned the wolf and saw the wounded area. The cut was not deep but he was in a bad shape. Maybe he fought with some another animal or something happened.

My mind was thinking about anything and everything. I did not know what I was doing but my hands did not stop. I very efficiently cleaned and then covered the wound with gauze making it a neat bandage. After I was done I admired my work and as if this admiration took me out of my stupor and realization dawned on me. I had in real sense bandaged an animal and that too a wolf. I did not recall that I had done anything similar too it. But by the look of it I was a natural.

But don't these types of thing take lots of practice? How I was able to do it quickly and without making a mess of it? I was confused and when I tried to think it made my head ache. So I stop and blamed it on past. Maybe I was training to be a nurse or doctor before I lost my memories. Thinking this way made some sense. I was broken out of my thoughts when I heard him groan out loud. What should I do? It was getting dark and dangerous as this road is not often taken by people to travel especially at night. My consciousness won't let me leave him alone. Making a decision I stood up and went to my car. Staring it I drove it near the wolf and then got out. Opening the back door I made way to him and tried as gently as I could to drag and put him inside on the back seat. I struggled but was successful after few minutes.

By the time I reached home it was already dark. I parked my car in the front yard and rushed in. I went inside and made a bee line to my room. Plugging my dead phone to the charger I went in the bathroom to shower. Washing my clothes and then myself I took extra care to remove the blood stains and smell of blood from my body. After I was clean and changed into Christmas clothes I took my phone out and went down stairs. I had typed the number for emergency help and hit the go button when I arrived at where I parked my car. I was conscious enough to notice that my call was answered and a woman was asking what my emergency was. But I was unable to answer her as I noticed through my car window that the backseat was empty. Mumbling a sorry I disconnected the call and in haste opened my car door and fair enough my eyes did not deceive me. The backseat was empty. It was messy but there was no wolf.

Baffled I checked my entire car and looked nearby but the wolf was nowhere to be seen. I was in a state of panic when I heard grandma call my name.

In a haze I looked at her and took few minutes to actually understand what she was saying.

'Why did you run outside? We were waiting in the backyard for you to come and start the dinner.'

Noticing my somewhat strange gaze she was concerned and asked what happened? I told her everything and waited for her response. I was wondering if she would believe me. I mean no sane person would do what I did. It all sounded fictional and what's more the wolf was gone.

I expected to see bewilderment in her eyes but was proved wrong. She took my hand lead me to sit at the patio beside her. Patting the back of my hand she unhurriedly asked.

'Did you lock the door when you left the car at the front and went inside?' I shook my head as really i did not lock it. Giving a slight smile she continued.

'My sweet rose wolf is a wild creature and loves to be free be it wounded or not. You told me that while driving for home he had started to make more noise and was more or less conscious. Maybe when you went inside it awoke and finding itself in a strange place was agitated. You know that you had not locked the car so maybe he got luck and went his way.'

Thinking like that I felt relieved but I was a bit hesitant to speak.

'But he was wounded? What if he got more hurt and something..?' not daring to complete my sentence I became quiet.

'You had done your duty and there is nothing more you could do right now, beside that worrying won't make it right anyway. Let's go inside and celebrate Christmas and then pray for your wolf's recovery and well being.' I nodded my head and we stood up. Making our way to the door I took a last glance at my car and then at the surrounding area. Praying for his health in my heart I walked in.

i hope you guys liked it.
