Chapter 5 - Surprise

Kendall's POV

Im so happy for Maddie she finally got her dream boyfriend and she is going to the prom!!! "Hey bro" I say to Maddie "Hey bro whatcha doing" "Ya know waiting for Miss Abby to get to the studio" I say I am kind of worried she is never late to opening the studio Maddie cringes at what I said. I guess she is worried to. "Are you okay Madz" I ask nervously "oh yeah I...I'm aaaa f-fine" suddenly Maddie blacks out I am so scared but luckily Kenzie sees her black out and gets Melissa to come over here.

Kenzie's POV

Maddie has been acting weirdly lately. She hasn't been taking to Josh, she has been skipping meals and during dance she freezes. I don't know what she is up to but I dont think its good. While she was taking to Kendall she blacked out so I screamed out to mom and she ran straight to Maddie. As soon as mom got to Maddie, Miss Abby pulled into her parking spot, saw Maddie lying on the hard, hot ground and started crying.

I walked towards Kendall, but to my surprise Kendall blacked out too. I was so overwhelmed so I ran to Miss Abby and gave her a hug. I started crying into her arms and she said "shh Kenzie its going to be okay im calling 911 now" that made me realise that this was serious. I was still crying but stopped when the ambulance arrived, then I started sobbing.

We arrived at the hospital and Josh was already sitting down in the waiting room. I walked up to him, sat down in his lap and cried into his shoulder. " Kenzie whats the matter? Are you okay?" Asked Josh "M-M-M-Maddie and K-K-K-Kendall b-b-blacked out at the studio" I said struggling as I was still crying. "They will be okay Kenzie its all okay" Josh says assuringly. I really like Josh he is like a big brother to me. "Why are you h-here" I said sobbing. "Paige is just checking up on her foot." "Oh okay"

Kendall's POV

I wake up to a beeping sound. The last thing I remember was we were at the front of the studio and Maddie blacked out... Thats right Maddie blacked out so did I. Where am I, I think to myself. I look around and see a curtain, a little table,a buzzer, a monitor, and a drip. I hate needles so I cringed at the sight of it. I realised I was at a hospital.

"Oh thank goodness you are awake Kendall!! We thought you weren't gonna be awake for at least 2-3 more days!! My name is Tammy and I will be looking after you" Says a nice woman/ nurse called Tammy. "Do you know if Maddie Ziegwer is okway" I ask talking weirdly. "Ummm she isn't doing to good and I don't think you are either" says Tammy "What do you mwean" I say still talking like a 3 year old.

Miss Abby's POV

Kendall is awake and talking extremely childish like a three year old, but Maddie isn't awake. The nurses keep telling me that Maddie isn't doing any good. She may be in a coma but she may not. I suddenly heard a lot of beeping and buzzing " Code red room 101" room 101 is Maddie's room!!! Oh no. I run as fast as I can into Maddie's room. She is laying there in her bed looking as pale as Snow White. But her eyes are open and looking around the room. "Miss Abby" "yes Maddie?" " where am I what happened" she says with no expression. "You are in the hospital, you blacked out in front of the studio." Beep beep beep . Maddie!!! Maddie!! Wake up Maddie!!! Don't go don't go to sleep I love you Maddie don't fall asleep!!

Melissa's POV

I was told that afternoon that Maddie has been skipping meals. She is now home sitting on the sofa, watching season 1 of dance moms. "Mom!!" I hear Maddie scream "yes honey" I say running into the living room only to find a sleeping Maddie. It must have been on the TV.

"Maddie wake up you need to eat" she awakes and goes into the kitchen to get a banana. I hope she knows that she isn't fat. "I'm going up to my room don't bother coming in" says an annoyed Maddie. "Get your butt here now, you are not going into your room, now do the laundry!!" She runs into the laundry shocked that I yelled.

Maddie's POV

My mom just yelled at me what a nice way to make me feel better about myself, Im fat, lazy, ugly and I don't know how Josh lifted me up.

I look in the mirror and lift my shirt up at first I see a six pack, a toned fit and healthy dancer. But then I see fat, rolls and rolls of fat. How could I let myself get like this? I thought skipping meals would help, but it just landed me in hospital. I don't care anymore I am still going to skip meals until I get the body I want.

Just one more sock left. I put the powder into the machine and turned the dial. I hope she doesn't abuse me tonight. The worse abusing I have had was being hit with a wooden spoon 10 times really hard. She hasn't brought out the baseball bat yet but I have seen it before.

Flashback

Maddie's flashback POV

"Madison get done here now!!" "Yes mom" "look at this mess its absolutely disgusting clean it up you big fat lazy 13 year old!!!" Why is my mom being so mean she is never mean and I didn't think I was fat.
I look in the mirror, I see a six pack and a v line. She's the one who is fat I think to myself. She is the one who always eats fast food, she never gets a salad or anything healthy, she gets a burger and fries. I stay at home with Kenzie and make Kenzie and I a healthy salad and piece of fish for dinner. We are dancers so we need the protein but mom doesn't realise that.

"I Im sorry mom I didn't see it, Kenzie felt sick and then she..." I was cut off by my mom "what she chucked I don't give a crap clean it up, you useless slug!!" I bent down on my hands and knees and started scrubbing the floor. The next thing I know is Im lying on my bed being punched by my mom. I hate her now she is so mean. I try to fight back but I eventually black out.

End of flashback

Kendall's POV

Maddie and I both have been skipping meals but for different reasons. Maddie is being abused and only Kenzie, I and her family know about it. Maddie is my best friend and she tells me everything. One day during dance I noticed her stomach.

Flashback

"Kendall don't sickle your foot!!" Yelled miss Abby. I fixed my foot and looked over at Maddie. We were practicing our duet when we told to go get a drink.
I saw make up coming off of her stomach. I then see multiple cuts, grazes and bruises. "Hey Maddie did you fall over or something?" I ask looking at her stomach. "Ummmmm yeah I did i ahh fell off myyyy ummm bike, yeah I fell off my bike." She says nervously. "Maddie you don't own a bike or a scooter, what really happened?" I ask quietly.

Maddie grabs my hand and leads me into the bathroom, she locks the door and whispers to me "my mom is abusing me, I am not meant to tell people but I know I can trust you. You are not allowed to tell anyone not even Josh." Says Maddie in a scared worried tone. "It's okay I wont tell anyone I promise. I love you so don't worry."
