A Hunting Attack

Hello. Here is chapter 8. a little more family time between Akira and the Super Stars. Hope you enjoy reading it as much as i ejoyed writing it.

Later in the evening, fifteen minutes past midnight, Freddy and Mick headed to the ravine with Akira. The younger boy was going to watch the two vampires hunt. He wondered what it was they fed off down there but he'd soon see.

Once in the ravine Freddy stayed close to Akira in front of a group of trees. Mick was standing a ways away listening and watching. He checked for any scent and found one. He headed off in that direction with Freddy and Akira not far behind.

"Where's he going?" asked Akira

"He's following the scent of blood?" Freddy said softly

"How do you know?"

Freddy crouched down in front of Akira and pointed out something to him. Akira bent down to get a closer look. On the ground was three small dark stains close together. Freddy pointed in the direction Mick had gone in and Akira noticed a trail of the dark stains. They were fresh too only about an hour old.

"Blood," Akira said in a low voice so as not to scare off whatever Mick was hunting.

"Are you scared?" Freddy asked him.

"No," Akira shook his head. "Can whatever Mick's hunting hear us? I don't want to scare it away."

"If we stay back everything will be fine."

Freddy led the way down the path and after walking for a while they found Mick crouched low in a bush. Freddy crouched low beside Mick and Akira stayed behind them. They looked out over to a small stream to see a young dark colored wolf.

"Yearling. Female. Been alone for a while. Back right leg injured. Looks like a fight with something," Mick whispered.

"Didn't Bowie say there were no wolves in the area?" Akira voiced out.

"He wasn't talking about these wolves he was talking about werewolves. Humans who can change into wolves," Freddy informed.

After drinking the wolf turned and started walking away from the stream. It walked right past the bush the two vampires and one human hiding behind the bush. They watched the wolf limp almost dragging her injured leg behind her. Then she collapsed. As the small group waited the wolf got back up walked a little further then went down again.

"I can't let this continue," Mick said in a sad voice as he moved in on the injured animal.

"He's going to target her," Akira realized.

"Mick has a problem with watching anything suffer. Despite the fact he wasn't sick of injured when he was turned. He told me he turned just because. He'll put anyone or thing down before he lets them suffer."

The wolf turned her attention to the approaching vampire. Mick walked slowly so as not to startle her. She growled at him and made a move to stand but her leg gave out. Mick reached her just as she finally managed to stand up on her three good legs.

"Shh. It's okay. You won't have to suffer anymore," Mick cooed softly.

The wolf snarled and tried to attack. Mick put out his left arm palm up and the wolf's jaws closed on it. Mick did nothing. He didn't cry out in pain, he didn't flinch, he didn't even try to struggle to free his arm.

"I'm sorry you were hurt," Mick told her as he stayed crouched beside her while she snarled with his arm still in her jaws.

Akira and Freddy watched Mick pet the young female wolf a few times then he pushed her head up and exposed her throat. It was over quickly. Mick's fangs sank into the dark colored throat. The wolf made a sound like a yelp. It released Mick's arm and he closed his fingers on her muzzle to silence her. As Akira watched Mick drained the wolf and ended her pain.
