The day ticked on and soon enough it was 9pm, Raph and Mikey returned to their video games and Donnie had gone into his lab to tinker with his newest invention that was liable to blow up. Leo and Kat went topside for a little alone time together, they wouldn't call it a date but Leo's brothers made sure to mock him with kissy faces and laughs as the two eldest turtles left.
Kat only wanted to go topside because she hates feeling cramped so she lights the fresh air and the roofless sky as she runs full speed across rooftops with her blue clad companion. The two oldest turtles moved together perfectly in sync, their movements were smooth and basically muscles memory at this point.
They 'danced' around one another as they ran, flipping over the other and leaping to rooftops like acrobatic performers. The blue and white banded mutants moved beautifully together almost as if they were one being, their minds molds together perfectly as they predicted the others movements and countered them.
This continued until they arrived at the docks, the same docks that only a few nights prior Leo was reunited with Katharine after a year of thinking she had died. The two turtles walked down to the end of the dock and looked out across the water as the small waves crashed on top of one another, the moon's reflection on the water was torn this way and that as the salty liquid moved ever so slightly.
Crystal and sapphire eyes watched the gorgeous scene in front of them with small smiles on their faces, they were standing close to one another their hands almost touching. Kat felt Leo twitch his hand slightly for he was hesitant in taking her in his so she did it for him, she laced her three fingered hand with his and glanced over to him with a warm smile playing across her face.
The blue clad male returned the smile and gave a gentle squeeze to her hand, his voice was soft as he spoke, "This is nice. Having you with me and my family being able to just be happy together...it's nice."
Kat smiled and nodded, "You're right it is nice, and when we take down those gangs we'll be able to enjoy it without worry." Leo smiled softly and leaned over to her, she caught on immediately what he was wanting so she moved in as well...their lips met in the middle in a gentle yet loving kiss.
They let go of each other's hands and moved closer, Leo rested his hands on Kat's hips while said female wrapped her arms loosely around his next deepening the sweet kiss to a more passionate one.
They broke the kiss but didn't back away from one another they just closed their eyes and rested their foreheads together, Leo began to sway ever so slightly leading the female mutant back and forth gently.
The night slowly moved on the two eldest mutants made their way back to the lair, it was almost 2am by the time they arrived having spend a lot of time at the docks just talking and enjoying the others presence without Leo's brothers there to interrupt their conversation.
Once they entered the lair the blue and white masked turtles noticed that the three younger turtles had fallen asleep on the couch watching a movie and by the looks over it the movie had just ended as the beginning of the end credits had started to roll.
Leo smiles softly before moving over and turning the tv off, he looked to Katharine who nodded and began helping him wake his brothers so they could go get in their beds.
Donnie was easy to wake up next was Mikey, Raph was a little harder but he got up anyway...with those three heading to bed Kat pressed a quick goodnight kiss on Leo's cheek as she laid out her blanket and pillow. The blue banded mutant smiled at her before bidding her goodnight as well and going to his room.
After he closed his door he sighed softly thoughts of his 'date' with Kat drifts through his mind causing him to smile, he really was lucky...he had a loving family and got the girl of his dreams to be his girlfriend. His sapphire eyes widen...girlfriend...huh he liked the sound of that, Kat as his girlfriend...yea that sounded good to him.
He closed his eyes and fell asleep and for the first time in the long time his dreams didn't involve the hell he experienced in that jungle.
The white masked turtle however wasn't that lucky, she had just fallen asleep only to bolt upward breathing hard as flashes of her past flooded her mind...with a heavy sigh she stood up and went to the kitchen to get some water.
She stood by the sink with her glass just watching the clear liquid in the cup, her crystal eyes held a deep sadness that she hid from the world...she was lost in her own thoughts that she failed to notice a certain aged rat enter the small kitchen. Soon enough she felt another presence and looked eyes with Master Splinter who wore his signature emotion that clearly screamed 'I'm a wise old rat...talk to me child.'
(Author nite: I literally snorted when I typed that bc I was so into writing I wasn't really paying attention until I typed it 😂)
Splinter held his green walking staff and watched the young female as she gathered her thoughts, it was almost painful to watch as she pushed away the deep sadness and replaced it with a emotionless mask.
Katharine sat her glass on the counter before speaking in a low tone, "I'm sorry if I wok-," she was cut off by Splinter raising his hand to motion that he wasn't awake because of her. "You needn't worry I was just finishing my meditation and came to brew myself some tea...now may I ask why you are awake?"
The white masked turtle looked to the floor slightly before speaking, "It's nothing to be concerned about just restless I guess...I didn't do much physically today and my nerves aren't use to it so I'm still full of energy," it was obvious lie because one look at her and anyone could tell that the 19 year old female is exhausted having not gotten much sleep in a while.
The elder rodent sighs softly having finished brewing his tea, he sips the warm liquid before locking his soft reddish brown eyes with tired crystal blue orbs. His voice is like silk, "Katharine you don't have to pretend to be okay, you aren't alone anymore you have all of us to rely on now...so don't feel like you should lock away your emotions alright."
The white masked mutant nodded slightly as the aged rat continued, "And besides you wouldn't want to worry Leonardo would you?" His tone hints at something other than normal worry causing the teenage mutant to blush slightly and look away, Master Splinter chuckled slightly before sipping his tea.
"Get some sleep Katharine, you need to be well rested if you want to win your battles," with those final words of wisdom the old mutant rat left the kitchen and made his way back to his room.
The white masked female sighed softly dropping the emotionless front she had put up before picking up the now room temperatures glass of water. She sipped the liquid before dumping the rest in the sink and cleaning the glass and returning it to its rightful place in the cabinet.
She walked back to the couch her crystal eyes had adjusted to the darkness of the lair so she didn't have to worry about bumping into anything, she sat down once she made it to the couch and sighed before laying down and closing her eyes.
Sleep was quick to claim her but this time she managed to rest without worry for she had fallen into a dreamless deep sleep.
