Volume 1 : Chapter 7

After eating their lunch of the next day, Zetta's spine shivered.

He didn't hear any. He didn't saw any. But his inner body are trembling. His hands are shaking. "What... is this feeling?" he stand up from his seat and look where this uneasiness came from. He look 360 degree at every direction and the uneasiness came from only one place. He stepped forward but fell on his knee. Not because he turned weak.

"What the!?"

Zzzzz-

He almost cursed himself as he feel like helpless. At the same time, the earth and trees shook and dark tentacles came out of direction he was supposed to go

"F*ck! Rethusa, Lante! drag away the Goddess!!!" He cried out as the tentacle big as his body split into four. But was too late, the tentacles initial target was Artemis while it whipped all the girls and grab their Goddess. "Damn you! <Borrowed Power of Heracles!>" his body smoked of faint red aura. Artemis was captured at the same time as she reach out her hand towards Zetta while being pulled away from him. The tentacle was too fast that a couple of seconds later. Artemis silhouette is no more. But of course Zetta followed her the same time it pulled her away.

<Air Walk> <Eagle Stomp>

He repeatedly use his fastest maneuver skill one after another just to get closed by. He then realize a tentacle came from Elsus Ruin as he followed it from above kicking the air. Elsus Ruin is place where he felt an omnimous presence since coming into Artemis camp. He knew it isn't safe to go there so he reminds the girl and Artemis not to come near Elsus Ruin. but who would have thought it attack them out of nowhere

"It has an Intimidation! The girls weren't affected but me!" he muttered as he still keep on following the tentacle holding Artemis. he was attacked from time to time but he either slash them or tear them apart with sheer strength given by <Borrowed Power of Heracles>. As for enemy's intimidation. it affects those who have strong innate soul but was useless when the receiving end didn't feel a bit frightened. -though he didn't know he had the strong soul- of course he overcome his fright for saving his Goddess.

<Vanishing Drift!> When he close his distance, his body flickered as he slashed the tentacles holding Artemis and liberate her, he was teleported in an instant. Grabing her waist, he then leap up and activate his sword, "Eat their flesh and let none remain, Erinyes!" whilst devour the tentacles and as it remain nothing, at the same time a howl came from the inside of Elsus Ruin as if it pained as it shook and destroyed. The earth dance and so trees and its wall crumbled. What emerged is the scorpion with dark color and glowing red stripes.

Using appraisal, he bewildered. This is the first time a Monster having an Alias and an unknown level. But a God Eater? So thats why its initial target was Artemis?. Zetta thought so

The scorpion screech as if its ploy has been fold. It then charged towards the two. Zetta then reposition Artemis and have her atop of his shoulder as he leap up. Then the Antares' claw extended towards the two like a rubber.

"If you don't want to die don't come!!!" from the air, he cried out after noticing Rethusa and the girls are coming to rescue Artemis. He then move towards them and put down Artemis. "Go back. You're only a hindrance" and said those harsh words. Artemis seemingly unapprove of abandoning him, but Rethusa pulled her body and nod looking at him in straight.

"Good.." as he face his back against them "I'm sorry for being too harsh on you. your determination reached me, so... lets go together at Orario" as his words are directly to her and jumped up and went towards Antares

'If I didn't defeat it here. other Gods might get devoured for sure' he thought. Worst comes to worst. It will come where Gods are concentrated which is in the Orario. So he decided to destroy it right here.

As its alias suggests, the one who Eat Gods, I'm sure it attracts the divine aura of Goddess Artemis but why it only attacks now? He thought. although a God can fight back using their Arcanum, they'll be immediately perish to mortal world and sent back to Heaven by other Gods and never be able to set foot at mortal realm ever again -as that was their ironclad rules-. Thats why they prefered dying and wait for tens of thousands of years to reincarnate than using their power to defend themselves from getting killed.

After in which I went towards the Antares. I'll have to kill it if I want a peaceful world. is what I thought. but screw it a. I just want to kill it for EXP, being frustrated of killing weak monsters. Thats all the reality

P.O.V. of Rethusa

He said it.. the word I never thought exists in his vocabulary, though it was I who should said it.

Seeing his expression and smile as he mentioned to go with us there together. It made me happy. No, not just me but also others, especially Artemis-sama

Actually before he came and when I was young where Artemis-sama adopted me along with others. She always telling the story about a dungeon, three great quest and the existence of a Hero before Gods descent. Of all of her story, she always happy storytelling about the biggest city and three great quest. But when we grow to adulthood she become serious as time passes by. maybe because of the death of other members made her change that much. But thanks to to Zetta, she now genuinely smile everyday.

We run away from his battlefield but we still heard crumbling earth and destroyed trees and the cry of his enemy. We didn't saw its true form but Artemis-sama only said it was a scorpion-like monster.
