SHIVERS went down jeno's spines as he heard a deep voice calling him from behind.

"jeno," jeno turned and gave the brunette a nervous smile, to say that jeno was scared was an understatement. infact, he was terrified.

he doesn't want to be close to na jaemin, especially when he's a vampire.

it didn't mean that he disliked vampires, no. he just didn't like jaemin, the boy just has a certain vibe which jeno didn't like at all.

jaemin smirked, he could sense jeno's fear. but he didn't mind it, he took the older's hand, intertwining it with his as they walked towards a black car.

"oh," jeno's head snapped towards jaemin since the boy had spoke up, "i forgot to give you something."

jaemin's free hand went into his pockets, rummaging around it to find something. a necklace.

upon finding it, he took it out and showed it to jeno. "you must wear this," jaemin said, his voice low and scary, as if it was a demand, "who knows what could happen to you in a crowd full of vampires, plus, in a blood moon ball."

blood moon ball..

no wonder jaemin had made jeno dress up formally, they were going to a ball. much more the infamous blood moon ball.

jeno had heard many stories of it, they would connect to souls with the red moon shining brightly in the sky. the two would dance, they would dance the night away.

a thought then went through jeno's head in a flash, he tapped jaemin's shoulder, "jaemin?" the latter raised a brow, "i'm a mortal though."

jeno didn't think jaemin would smirk once again at the question.

"well," jaemin waved the necklace, "that is why i'm letting you wear this after-all."

———

"jaemin—"

renjun looked at the boy beside his friend, "oh, and jeno!"

jeno just smiled at him, he didn't bother saying anything. he was absolutely nervous at the moment, and didn't feel like speaking at all.

jaemin nudged renjun by the side, "i'm taking him to father."

renjun's eyes widened, making jeno lower his head, anxiety filling him up. "what?!" renjun looked at jeno, "you do know your father doesn't accept mortals right?"

jaemin sighs as he nods, "yeah, but," the boy breaths in, "i know my father, and no matter what, he always accepted what i want," jaemin glanced at jeno, "plus, it's not like i really like him, i'm just using him for this party, and after that, we will never have another interaction."

jeno shouldn't be hurt by his statement, it was true after all.

but for some reason, his heart seemed to ache upon hearing those words. it hurt his pride.

jeno's eyes were soon clouded with tears, with his head low, he spoke, "i'm going to the restroom for a while, okay?"

jaemin just nods.

and immediately, jeno went to the restroom with a single tear falling from his eye.

———

donghyuck didn't know what to do as soon as he arrived, his eyes started scanning the crowd. trying to look for a blonde headed boy.

"mark, where are you?" he mumbled as he continued look for him in the crowd.

the day before, mark had invited him to the party. and donghyuck doesn't even want to talk about how the older did it.

he just wanted to find mark and get this over with.

but the boy couldn't find mark.

he sighs before stepping away from the crowd and heads to an empty table.

in the crowd, he could see jaemin and renjun talking.

he didn't bother observing and just stared into thin air, silence in the atmosphere.

"hey there," donghyuck looked up to see an unfamiliar face, "i see your partner left you, a mortal, in a place filled with vampires."

donghyuck didn't know how to react, as the vampire dragged him to a dark and secluded area.
