JAEMIN and Chenle had left the mansion earlier, leaving Jeno alone with Chenle's trusted butler.

They explained that they would go somewhere to investigate with some of Chenle's men, and if Jeno remembered correctly, they would be investigating the mansion he was imprisoned in with Jaemin, and the castle, specifically, the king's room.

If they can find anything which might lead to whoever is behind the kidnapping and the murder, then they can possibly also find Donghyuck.

"Sir Jeno, would you like anything?"

Jeno flinched as he looked at the butler who stood behind him. The butler wasn't human, though he definitely looked like one. His eyes weren't like Jaemin's or Chenle's which were yellow, orange, or red. The butler's eyes were black. The only thing which makes him a vampire were the sharp fangs he had.

"Uh— I'm fine," Jeno replied as he waved his hands.

As of the moment, Jeno was inside Chenle's huge library. It had an onslaught amount of shelves, all filled with books.

On Jeno's lap was a book with a hard, velvet cover. The pages weren't so neat like the cover. It had some rips, it looked like the tip was burnt, and the words had been written so.. sloppy?

Jeno found this book in the library, and it wasn't hidden at all, it was in plain sight.

Though it confused Jeno, who would place such book into those shelves. The book looked like it was private, too private that Jeno felt the guilt upon reading the first few pages.

Every page started with a Dear diary; and it ended with an Until next time.

But Jeno was confused, as to why the thirtieth page, the last page to be written on, had wrote the words Bye.

Not to mention, every page also had a little signature on the bottom right corner, the letters N.JM were written.

"Uh, sir?" Jeno called the butler out.

The butler looked at Jeno, and before he could ask anything, Jeno raised the book which he had just read.

"Can you tell me what this is doing here?" Jeno asked curiously. He already knew who owned the diary. Jeno wasn't stupid, he was sure it was Jaemin's.

But... What Jaemin wrote was so.. heartbreaking...

"Ah, so you've found that book." The butler sighed. "Might as well explain, you've already read it, haven't you?"

Jeno nodded.

"Well..."

"Sir Na's mother had just passed away when he wrote that book."

———

"Jeno?" Jaemin's call made Jeno quickly wipe the remaining droplets of tears in his eyes. The butler then gave him a pat on the shoulder.

"Please remember what I just said."

Jeno nodded. The story that the butler had just said was still in Jeno's head, playing over and over again.

But.. he's so different. Jaemin always acted brave and confident.

Then Jeno looked down. He remembered the breakdown that Jaemin had the night before.

"Jeno?"

The boy looked at the entrance of the library. There stood Jaemin with a worried look on his face. His hair was somewhat messed up, maybe because the day had been too busy for him.

"Are you alright?" Jeno nodded before walking towards Jaemin.

"Yeah, just read a very sad book," Jeno explained.

"It was that sad?" Jaemin asked, raising his brow as Jeno nodded. "Yep."

Then Jaemin's eyes stared into Jeno's, it looked like he was staring into his soul. Jaemin leaned closer to the boy, making him take a step back.

"Why do I feel like there's something you're not telling me...?"

Jeno gulped. "I'm not sure why you'd think that way. I already told you everything, Jae."

Jaemin grinned. "Then, no secrets?"

"No secrets." I'm sorry, Jae.
