JENO slowly opened his eyes. The bright light blinded his vision. He squinted his eyes before looking at the place he was in. A hospital.

"What the.." he mumbled. He slowly sat up, clutching his head which was slightly throbbing in pain. As soon as his vision was much more clear, he found a brunette sitting on the couch.

His head was down, his arms crossed. The person wore an oversized white jacket, along with some black ripped jeans and white sneakers.

"Jaemin?" The brunette flinched. He looked at Jeno. Their eyes met one another.

Jaemin stood up before rushing over to him. "Jeno!" He held his hand tightly. "Did you know how worried I was?! What did they do to you?! Why did you take so long to wake up?!"

Jeno didn't bother answering those questions. "Hm.. by the way, what happened to Donghyuck..?"

Jaemin froze. When they broke out of that place, Jaemin never got the time to check the area once again and look for Jeno's best friend.

He sighed before walking over to the couch once again. "Sorry, Jen. But Donghyuck's been missing for days now. I'm not sure what's going on at the castle. Plus..." Jaemin didn't speak any further.

Jeno didn't question him. Instead, he switched to another topic. He wanted to know why Jaemin was like that, but the boy seemed like he also didn't wanna talk about it.

"Where are we?" Jeno asked.

"As of the moment, the closest place to that place was this city." Jaemin covered up his frown with a forced grin. "And this city happens to be the place where my grandmother lived!"

"Grandmother...?" Jeno repeated with a questioning tone.

"That's right."

"Wait. Why does your grandmother live here while your father stays in the palace?"

For a short while, Jaemin didn't answer. Upon hearing the word, he felt a small tug in his chest. He then shook his head before looking at Jeno.

"Well, my f-father was a vampire, while my mother was a human. My grandmother is in mother's side. My father didn't want her being involved with the vampires because she was growing old and didn't want her to die because of them. So he made her stay here," Jaemin explained.

"What happened back at the castle?" Jeno had so much questions to ask. After him getting beaten up, he didn't know what happened next.

"Well. Some vampires invaded the place. They.." Jaemin paused. ".. they killed my father then kidnapped you. As of the moment, the place is being guided by Mark and Renjun."

Jeno's eyes widened. So that's why Jaemin was acting strange. It was because of the mention of his father. The man who Jaemin loved a lot.

"I—" Jeno croaked out. "I'm sorry..."

"Don't be." Jaemin snickered. "You weren't at fault. It was those traitors who decided to ruin the ball." He then looked down. "I'm questioning why they did it though. I'm sure that there's someone bossing them around to do those things."

"What do you mean?"

"There's a person who's paying them to do that. Basically." Jaemin went to Jeno. "You, me, and Donghyuck were supposed to be sold in the black market by someone who hates my father. That's the reason why they went to the blood moon ball. To kill my father, take us, then sell us."

"That's.. hard to take in." Jeno looked down at the hands which were wrapped with bandages. "I think my entire life is screwed."

"Well, I—"

"Min?" Jeno and Jaemin looked at the door to see a woman enter. The woman wore white long-sleeves along with some ankle-length shirt and black shoes. Her grey hair reached her waist. She brought a basket with her. "Oh, you're awake?" She looked at Jeno.

Jaemin smiled. "That's my grandmother," he whispered to Jeno.

The woman smiled. "We have tons of things to talk about."
