Chapter 7: First shift after the date

I walked into the tower and sat down, Jesse soon walked in after me with maxi and Harrison. He came and sneaked up next behind me and hugged me, pulling his arms around me I head butted him since I pulled back in surprise. Maxi suddenly hugged me as well and then we were all in a big bear hug. We all let go and sat down to hear where we were going to be today. I got given first shift in the tower with maxi and Jesse. I thought great I get to be with the 2 biggest kids all morning. Maxi and Jesse high 5 and sat down. Hoppo came over to me "have fun controlling the kids!" We both laughed and everyone left. I sat down near Jesse. It was a pretty calm day so we really just talked and had fun. Maxi started talking about the date. "So did you 2 do anything interesting?" Maxi asked me. I looked over at maxi and then Jesse, "yea I took Jesse to see my horses". Maxi looked surprised to think that was our first date, but I always just want to see them with my horses before anything. "Yea it was really fun to go do something other than a movie or something" Jesse said to maxi. I smiled at Jesse and he looked at me smiling back. I was happy to know he enjoyed the date.

It was a long day and I was so tired when I got back to my apartment. I walked in and plonked myself onto the couch and lied there, just staring at the ceiling, when suddenly I heard a knock at the door. Not many people came around to my house besides people selling stupid things so I thought it was one of them, groaning my way to the door to be asked to buy things I opened it and Jesse and maxi were standing there with surf movies and food. I was really surprised seeing they didn't know where I lived. "Hey guys! how did you know I live here?" I asked them. "Don't be freaked out but we sort of followed you home." I looked shocked and sort of felt scared. "Haha nah we are joking! I live in the building next door and keep seeing you walk in!" Maxi told me. I felt relived to know that they didn't stalk me home. I told them to come in and make themselves at home. Luckily enough I have a giant couch since I love to lie there and watch movies, so we could all comfortably lie down after a long day at the beach. I chose to sit next to Jesse, he put his arm around me and without thinking I just put my head on his shoulder. As the movie went on I drifted off, I was never one for surf movies even though I surf I am more of a horse movie gal. So I fell asleep on Jesse basically.

I felt a tapping on my shoulder, I slowly opened my eyes and saw jesses face (not a bad sight when you just wake up) "Jess wake up the movie is over" he told me. I pulled my head up and looked around having a confused moment, also feeling a tad embarrassed to fall asleep but oh well. "Oh sorry must have just drifted off.". Jesse stood up with maxi taking the empty packets of food to the kitchen. "So we shall be off now." Maxi told me as they walked to the door. "I'll walk you guys out." I followed them out. We stepped into the elevator and maxi and I got into a war of who got to click the button. During the war Jesse just pressed it. I walked out to the car that Jesse had drove. "See ya guys." I waved to maxi as he walked across the street to his apartment building. Jesse got into his car and started the ignition, the car didn't start. He tried again, it didn't start. "maybe we should call for the NRMA." I asked Jesse. "nah it's too late, I'll just go over and stay at maxis." he started walking over, but then something just came out of my mouth "or you could stay with me." having no filter of my mouth does sometimes help but now I was more thinking 'oh crap he probably thinks I'm weird'. "Yea sure" he started to walk back and we walked into the apartment building and into the elevator. We entered my apartment, I closed the door. "You can sleep on the couch or in the spare room, which ever takes your fancy." Jesse looked at both like it was a life decision. "What about in your bed?" he asked me with a playful look. We hadn't really done anything since our first date. We didn't even kiss when he got out of the car. "Sure, I don't mind." We walked into my room and I sort of didn't clean up so it was messy with swimmers and riding clothes everywhere but oh well. We both just stared at each other from each side of the bed. I was expecting him just to decide not to stay with me and stay in the spare room. "So, I'll just get in then." he said and pulled back the covers and got into my bed. "Ok I'm just gonna brush my teeth and stuff." I walked into my bathroom and started to wipe the day off my face and brush my teeth. I walked out and saw Jesse fast asleep already. I got changed into my pjs and climbed in. I had a large king size bed so we weren't really squished next to each other but I felt so close to him, I felt safe and at home. And I drifted off.

I had the best nights sleep last night in a while since I had Jesse there to make me feel safe. I woke up before he did and left him to sleep. I opened my fridge and found I had no food, I got dressed into a shirt and shorts and wrote a note to leave Jesse, "hey gone to get food, will be back soon x" I left my apartment and drove to the shops.

Jesses POV

I woke up and turned over to find Jess gone, I got out of bed and walked around her apartment searching for her until I found a note on the kitchen bench top saying she went out to get food. I walked over to the couch and sat down. I looked around her apartment and saw heaps of family photos and of course her horse. It felt weird to not be at my place and to be at hers but it did feel really normal in a sense and home like. I got out my phone and started to text maxi. "Hey bra, slept over at Jess's place and no nothing happened, she is so awesome though! Do yuz wanna hang out later? I'll see if Jess wants to come when she gets back." I sent the text and put my phone down. After about 20seconds the phone buzzed, it was from maxi "hey! yea we can all hang out later, we should go to the park in the city!" I don't know really why he wanted to go there but I guess it would be fun to get into the city, I started replying when Jess came in. "hey Jess!" I greeted her, I told her how we were going to meet up with maxi later and she sounded excited. She started to cook bacon and eggs for me and I walked over to the kitchen and leant over her shoulder as she cooked the eggs on the stove. Suddenly I was kissing her neck, it just felt right at the time and it happened. She didn't exactly shy away from it either so I went towards her lips and she turned to kiss me, our first kiss happened.

Jess's POV

He kissed me, it felt right and just perfect. I felt like it lasted forever. He came away from it and we looked into each other's eyes and we both knew that that was no accident. I continued to cook the eggs and then put a serving onto each plate. We went and sat down at the island bench and started to eat, "wow Jess this is really good! who knew you could cook, lifeguard and ride horses!" Jesse sounded like he was enjoying the food. I was more thinking about what else was cooking in the kitchen. We finished and I just put the plates in the sink to do later and we got ready to go get maxi and drive to the park. On the way out Jesse pulled me to him and whispered "that kiss was right" I agreed with him and we left the apartment. We picked up maxi and drove to the park, we just walked around and enjoyed the sun as well as feeding the ducks since maxi just had to being the biggest kid. Jesse and I stood there watching maxi, holding hands and just enjoyed the moment. It was a great day and a great start to a new chapter.
