Chapter 28 - Whore(1)

I woke up in the morning with the sound of my phone ringing. I had a restless sleep last night and my body was tired and in pain despite the painkiller I had taken before sleeping. I looked at the caller id and found Mr. Smith's name flashing across the screen. I wondered why was he calling me in the morning when it was only yesterday I submitted my designs and the next assignment had to be submitted in a few days. I answered my phone.

"Hello, Good morning Mr. Smith", I greeted .

"Hello Evan. Good Morning. Sorry for calling you all of a sudden but this is important. The stakeholders are planning to visit the hotel site and want to see the initial blueprints. I want you to come with me and it would be good experience for you", he told me.

"Okay Sir, I will be there. Please let me know at what time I have to be there. Should I come to office first or directly go there?", I asked.

"Be there in an hour and please directly go to the site. I will see you there".

"Okay Sir".

"See you Evan."

Damn. Why this meeting had to be today of all days. I did not feel like going but I had to go. I quickly took out another painkiller and chugged it down with water. I closed my eyes and laid for five minutes to wait for its effects.

Once feeling a bit better I got up and quickly showered and dressed. I still had forty minutes and the site was twenty minutes drive away. I thought of having breakfast, my body needed energy. I went downstairs and found Adrian sitting at the dining table. I looked away from him and went to the kitchen where Tom was putting eggs and toast in a tray.

"Hey", I halted hearing his voice. Was he speaking to me? I turned around and found him looking at me.

I did not say anything and just looked down avoiding his gaze. I was not sure how to act around him after last night. I was not angry but rather sad and confused with his behaviour and the words he said before leaving.

"Can we talk please", he asked me .

I looked up. I was beyond shocked. Adrian Sharkey who had never had a proper conversation with me and who acted like a dog-ass last night is asking to talk.

I nodded and sat on the chair in front of him.

"Are you okay", he asked with concern.

I looked at him. So now he is concerned when he himself was the one who treated me roughly last night.

"I am fine", I mumbled.

"I was too rough, wasn't I", he asked.

I did not say anything to that. Did it even matter to him? It was not even that I did something wrong and he was angry because of that.

A silence followed as neither of us spoke.

"You are going somewhere", he stated after sometime.

I nodded still not uttering a verbal response. I heard him sigh.

"Where?", he asked again.

"Work", I gave a curt response.

"You are working?", he asked surprised.

"Uhmm".

"Why? ".

"Because I want to".

He took a deep breath. "Look Evan, please don't be difficult. I am trying to be civil here after what happened last night."

"I have to go", I said getting up.

"Ok wait, I will drop you ", he said as he stood up.

My heart had started beating faster. My Gummy bears were having an internal battle. Half of them wanted to forget last night and went back to the way we were with our Vampire, while the other half wanted him to apologize .

The first half won, it was a rare opportunity that my Vampire was willingly talking to me and also had offered me a ride. I could not let it go.

"Okay", I said.

We walked to the garage neither of us saying anything. He unlocked his car and it was the same one I had seen earlier entering the mansion gates while I and Pat were going to the adventure park. So it meant that Adrian had been around home much earlier and had started visiting me much later.

We sat in the car and he started the engine.

I told him the destination which he entered in the GPS system.

It was silent again for about five minutes. I was staring out the window. I was nervous. It was the first time to be in same space as him outside my room and in daylight. My Vampire is willing to be with me outside the darkness even if it meant a small car ride. I smiled inwardly. My hurt from earlier was dissipating which I did not want to but when it comes to the matters of heart I am a putty.

"So what work do you do", he asked me.

I glanced at him, he was looking ahead on the road. I felt giddy at his interest in me apart from physical intimacy we used to have.

"I work as an interior designer", I answered.

He hummed as he tapped his fingers of his free hand on the steering wheel and did not say anything else. I was content with the single question he asked. We were getting somewhere and he cared for me. He had shown his affection multiple times during our nightly encounters except for the last night and today he showed concern for me .

"We are here", he said once the GPS pointed my destination.

"Thank you for the ride", I said with a small smile.

He nodded and unlocked the car.

"Do you want me to pick you back", he asked while I was getting out.

I was startled yet again. He is willing to pick me , it was my lucky day after that unlucky night.

"Uhh..",

"Just tell me the time Evan", he commanded in that husky voice of his.

"Afternoon 2 maybe", I told him.

"Okay , I will be here", he said and I got out and closed the door.

I waited as he turned around and drove back.

Adrian Sharkey I am head over heels for you.
