Pi
"Good morning Daddy!"
Dad peered at me from reading the morning paper. Ilang beses siyang umubo bago gumanti ng bati sa akin.
"Good morning Pi," bumaba ang tingin niya sa tiyan ko. "Hindi ko na mahihintay na makita ang apo ko." He tapped the space beside him kaya agad akong naupo roon, leaning my head on his shoulder. Even if I'm going to be a mother soon, I'm still my father's daughter.
One thing he made me realized is that parenthood never stops.
Antonio Bellomo is one hell of a tough guy. He maybe one of the most dangerous man alive yet it's undeniable that he's one of the sweetest father. Ever.
He's my treasure and so we are to him kaya ayaw ko ang tinatraydor siya. His health is deteriorating lately and it always worry me.
"Dad, nangangayayat ka na."
"Siguro abala lang sa negosyo," sagot niya kasunod ng sunod-sunod na pag-ubo.
"Pero daddy..."
"I've done enough evil deed in this world Pi, paano kung ito na pala ang karma sa mga nagawa ko?" wika niya. "At least I know na magiging maayos ang buhay ninyo ni John. The business is doing great--"
"It doesn't matter dad, ang mahalaga ay maayos ang kalagayan mo."
He caressed my hair and kissed the top of my head. "Kidding... You know karma took almost everything in me in advance kaya ano man ang kalagayan ko ngayon, labas na ang karma rito. But still, I'm old Pi."
"Yes but..." I think I'm about to throw a tantrum. I hate it when dad will start sprouting nonsense like this. Mahinang sinapak ko ang braso niya. "You're going to see my baby Dad. Ikakarga mo pa siya, you'll make him laugh, magpapalit ka ng diaper niya and you two will be best buddies. You will be the best lolo to him ever!"
Maging siya ay tila naexcite sa isiping iyon. "Him?"
I nodded with a smile. "I think he's a him, and I swear he'll look a lot like his father."
He smiled in relief. "Sa tingin ko ay maskwerte ka sa magiging asawa mo Pi. And speaking of him, you're getting married in two weeks."
I pouted at him, "Haller, maswerte rin siya sa akin Dad. Hindi siya lugi!"
He coughed in between his laughter. "Sure he is. I like the guy, may salita at paninindigan."
