Note: I had written this chapter two days ago but I'm not entirely happy about so this is a heads up that I might change it in the near future.Aria
Breakfast at the Rockwell household was never a quiet affair my mom was talking animatedly about what she had scheduled for the day, while my dad was absentmindedly nodding his head as he ate, and my brothers were chowing down whatever protein packed breakfast my mom had made them. Usually I'd join in on the conversation but that wasn't the case with me today, my mind was elsewhere. I had told Xander that today at lunch I would pull an epic prank on him but even after thinking about it all night I still didn't have a plan.
"Something bothering you cupcake?" My dad asked noticing my silence
"Nothing dad I just have an early test today. I should go before I'm late" I said getting up.
"Aria" he called as I was about to leave the dining area "technology might have come far but sometimes it's better to do things the old fashioned way" he said with a wink.
"Thanks dad" I gave him a reassured smile before leaving for school.
Come to think of it, Dad's not wrong I thought maybe it is better to do things the old fashioned way.
As I entered school, I was greeted by the shocked expressions and obvious giggles. Everyone probably thought I'd skip school or hide somewhere after Xander posted my video but I just rolled eyes at them. They seriously weren't over it yet some people just have too much time on their hands I thought shaking my head.
"Hey there" I heard Marie's meek voice behind me "math test today did you study?"
Marie and I had Math A together the others were in Math B.
"I tried but couldn't bring myself to focus" I admitted
"But Professor Carter hinted it would be really hard..." she began to say as we walked to class
"And god forbid you got an A-" I finished her sentence for her "don't worry you'll be fine me on the other hand I'll be happy with a B it's the first term anyway" I shrugged.
Just as we were about to enter class I saw Xander huddled with his friends at his locker and I guess he felt my gaze on him and looked my way. He didn't say anything but did give me a glare and I chose to ignore him and go into class.
Professor Carter was a no nonsense guy and immediately handed out the test after the bell. He usually only did roll call when a seat or two were empty otherwise he'd just tick everyone present while we did our work.
I was working on the second equation when I realised that both sides cancelled each other out leaving zero as the answer. I paused for a second looking down at the equation. Both sides cancel each other out I repeated in my head.
"This could work" I muttered to myself
"Something you'd like to share Miss. Rockwell" Professor Carter asked from his desk looking at me through his spectacles at the tip of his nose.
"Sorry I was just thinking out loud" I said meekly before getting to the third equation.
I managed to get through math just fine but I had a lot of work ahead of me and I needed help. Help from people I don't necessarily trust but might convince to be an inconspicuous part of my plan. Luckily our English teacher had gone into labour three weeks early and they weren't able to get a substitute for today's period so I had my chance to talk to them and it was also my only chance I may add as lunch was right after this period.
