She’s finding it out, the clock not even ticked one second before she marched out her last class of the day to the bookstore.

Walking into the mystery section, she moved her eyeballs up and down, scanning the shelves. Finally she stopped them at one not very big book with red writings on it “Three Act Tragedy” and “Agatha Christie” written right above it. Her hands took the book and her feet took her to the counter.

“Well well well, another mystery, Ms Martin?” The boy behind the desk asked.

“Yes, Jaime. How can you not recommend me this book?”

“Not yet, exactly, I was going to tell you. Don’t tell me you finished The Fever Code.”

“Not yet.”

“See? I was going to tell you after you finished that book.”

“Yeah, right, say what you want. How can I not know this book exists?” The last sentence she whispered to herself, though Jaime heard it.

“Someone gave the idea?”

“Yeah, someone.”

Allyana inserted the book into the bag and walked away leaving the bookstore.

Right after she stepped inside her house, she was putting her bag on the table right behind the sofa as she told Caramel, her artificial intelligence planted to the house and made by herself to turn the lights on. She walked through the living room to the kitchen, opened the fridge, and took a cake-filled container. With a cake on her left hand and a small spoon hanging by her lips, she took steps back to the living room, sat on the sofa and turned the TV on.

Allyana like being relaxed, not feeling stressed out about anything and watch TV to get her mind off things. She did it at least until it’s starting to get darker and darker outside, about 7 p.m. Her curtains automatically closed and she got off the sofa to take a bath.

“Enough for today, boss?” Caramel asked as Allyana stepped out the bathroom with a bathrobe.

“That’s enough, Caramel, thank you.”

“You’re welcome boss, good night.”

“Good night Caramel.”

First thing she did in the morning after blinking her eyelid a few times was rushed down the staircases to have breakfast, the most important and her favourite meal of the day.

Today, she’s having bread and milk on her table. Her hair was messy and her eyes were barely opened. Then, to the bathroom she went to take a long morning bath.

Café’s next, like every other mornings. Isla greeted her as she did the same with a smile. The café was more crowded than it was yesterday because this was Saturday and it’s almost 9 in the morning. Allyana sat where she always did, by the big window, to look at the streets and read her novel with the sun shining through.

The bell rang, every single time a human being opened the door of the café. By the time Allyana was looking to the ringing bell, someone walked in. Someone she knew. Thomas. Her lips somehow stretched to both of her ears, her eyes looking down to her table and her hand writing.

Thomas scanned around the café with his green eyeballs after he told Isla what he wanted. He sat just 2 table away from Allyana for that was the last table available inside the room. Thomas’s eyes glued to Allyana, bowing her head to her book. How can someone be so focused to her book when the café was as loud as a mall, he thought. Even after his name was called and he got his coffee, Allyana was like a magnet his eyes were drawn to. A very strong magnet.

10.00 a.m. the time showed up on Allyana’s phone when she turned it on. She closed her book and put her phone on top along with a piece of paper. As she was walking outside, she turned to the counter and handed Isla the piece of paper. Thomas’s eyes followed her as she left the café.

It didn’t take long for Thomas to leave the café, right after he was called by Isla and given the paper. He went straight home. Just behind his door, his friend came up, Daniel. Thomas’s body jumped and his eyeballs rounded up. Thomas yelled his name, causing him to cough.

“Don’t scream bud. You can’t.” Daniel cleared up.

“Yeah yeah, I know.”

“What is this?” taking the piece of paper from Thomas’s left hand.

“She replied?” asked Daniel.

“Apparently.”

“By three act it’s found. What’s next?” Daniel reading the paper.

Nothing came out as the reply of what Daniel just said. Thomas walked in and Daniel followed him in the back. Then, Thomas took off his mask and put it away in the bin. A hospital mask was put, covering his nose and mouth, which connected by a cable to a tank.

“I like her.” Thomas said after he sat on the sofa.

“But…”

“I know. I won’t. I just. Like her.” He said with a sadness in it.

“So it’s over?”

“No. Not yet. I have to reply, don’t I?”
“Don’t hurt yourself.”

“I don’t care about mine. But I care about hers. That’s why I won’t, Daniel.”

Daniel smiled, a very painful smile showed in his face as he was looking to his best friend. Sometimes, Daniel wished that it’s just a nightmare his best friend was living through, but sadly it wasn’t.

Thomas didn’t do much at home, he no longer went to school because he graduated from university last year. But he couldn’t do much either with his bachelor degree due to the situation he’s living.

What situation was it? What made Thomas stayed still? Stay tuned for it!
