She stepped inside her house while Thomas ran back to his car and drove away to his home. When he arrived, another wave of dry coughs came and he panted reaching for his mask and tube. He smiled though.
After everything happened for the last few days and especially earlier, he was beyond happy. No words could describe what was inside his heart and his brain. Everyone could see it on his face, covered with a big smile that it couldn’t get any bigger. But that smile dropped as the thought came rushing through his brain like a flood. He wanted everyone to be happy, but especially Allyana. He doesn’t want to break her heart.
“You have to tell her, Tommy.” Daniel said, coming and sitting next to him.
“I will. I’m just not ready yet.”
“Your disease is serious. You are living your last days. If you don’t want to break her heart, you have to tell her now.”
“See that, Daniel? When you have a disease, it controls you. It controls everything you do. You can no longer do everything as you wish.”
“That’s not what I meant. I...”
“I can’t. Daniel. Don’t you see that? I can’t even love someone because they will get hurt. That’s the worst thing about having a disease. Not what it does to yourself, but what it does to the people you love.”
A tear rolled down Thomas’s cheek as he gasped for air.
“She will not be heartbroken if you tell her now. She’ll understand. She loves you.” Daniel said after a moment of silence.
“But I don’t want to drag her into this. It’s not right. I’ll put more weights on her shoulder.”
Meanwhile at Allyana’s house, she is on a call with Isla.
“Tyler huh?”
“Yeah. I guess so.”
“I thought you were nemesis.”
“No. The thing is. He never tells me to do his homework. You do remember when I told you someone texted me saying he likes me. Right?”
“And that guy turns out to be Tyler?”
“Yep. And I have texted him ever since.”
“Jesus. You wicked girl. So when you smiled over your phone and I asked you who it was and you never told me once. That was all Tyler?”
“Yep.”
“Then why would he yelled at your café the other day?”
“Usually he tells Celine to do his homework’s. But Celine is sick and absent for the day so he asks for help. And I didn’t do it because we no longer have homework’s these days. He was panic and angry and boom. Yelled.”
“Short-tempered.”
“Mmhm. But I made a deal with him. If I and him are going to be together, he has to control his temper and he will no longer tell Celine or anyone to do his homework. And he agreed.”
“Congratulations on the love story, Isla sweetheart.”
“Thank you. How was your date?”
“Great. Thanks to you.”
“Did you two kiss?”
“How do you know that?”
“Lyana. I’m a pro. I know.”
Laughter could be heard on the both ends of the phone. The talk continued between the two best friends who both just got love struck.
The next few days happened just as usual. Thomas got into the café, Isla prepared his usual order, black coffee, and then he waited for his Allyana. Allyana walked in, took her prepared order by Isla and her and Thomas left the café. They left at noon and went back at night. Thomas drove her home and he went back to his house, connecting to his mask and his tube. Their days always started with a kiss and ended with one.
It had been a week since Isla’s birthday and Allyana and Thomas’s first kiss. Both Thomas and Allyana had arrived in the café but decided to stay for a while before today’s trip started.
“Why do you call today special?” Allyana asked in the middle of drinking coffee and looking at Thomas.
“Because I’m going to take you somewhere special.”
“Where?”
“You’ll see.”
A few more minutes passed and they went to Thomas’s car. He drove carefully through the roads with a fascinating talk happening between him and Allyana. Nothing really special. But when it came to Allyana, everything was fascinating for Thomas. The car stopped meaning they had arrived at the place Thomas called special. Thomas opened the door and took her hand then they both went towards a not so big house.
It’s not a fancy house, just a humble, cream coloured wall, wood like door and 2 sofas at the terrace. Thomas knocked on the door with a smile that hadn’t been faded since they got here. The door opened revealing an old lady about fifty-s.
“Thomas!” The lady called while giving him a hug.
“Hey. Mrs Pilony.” Thomas said giving back a hug.
“How are you? You’re so... grown up.”
“I’m good. I’m great in fact.”
“And who is this beautiful young girl?”
“Oh. This is Allyana. She’s my…”
“Girlfriend.” The lady completed his sentence.
“Well lucky you to get someone as beautiful as her. What’s your name darling?” Said the lady again.
“Allyana.” Allyana said.
“What a beautiful name. Come in both of you. Come on.”
“Oh, you two can go first. I have some stuff to take.”
Both Allyana and the lady came in and some children were sitting and playing with each other while the other running and chasing each other.
“Attention please children. This is Allyana.”
“Hi Allyana!” The children screamed.
“Hi. You can just call me Lyana.” Said her with a chuckle.
“You can join them if you like.”
“Oh I be delighted to.”
Thomas tried to find Allyana and finally he found her with the little girl, finished the bracelet.
“And voila. It’s perfect. Lydia, we don’t always do our best, but we can always try again until we do. Ok? The key is to not give up."
“Thank you Lyana.” Lydia said as she gives her a hug.
“You’re welcome.”
“How do you know how to do it?”
“Oh I did it too once when I was your age. Come here.”
Whose house was this? Would Thomas finally reveal his situation to Allyana? The girl he loved.
