everus Snape wasn't entirely sure how he ended up in this situation, but he didn't spare it much thought as he fired another spell at the creature in front of him. He was just strolling through the woods, thinking that it was safe because Harry and Remus had everything under control, when he heard a long, pained howl come from deep in the Forest. Despite knowing that he probably didn't want to get into whatever was going on, he turned his feet to carry him deeper into the trees.
As he got closer to the sounds of what he now identified as a fight, he saw a grey wolf and a russet wolf facing each other, growling. The russet wolf's hind leg was dangling behind him, telling Severus that it was broken – to what extent though Severus didn't know.
The wolves circled each other, the russet wolf hopping on his good hind leg but still managing to look imposing. Severus hid behind a tree and watched, something about the red wolf making him uneasy. As the wolves circled, the red wolf's right side was presented to Severus, revealing a haunch that was covered in white fur rather than red.
That's an interesting marking, Severus thought to himself before noticing something red dripping off of the russet wolf's fur. Severus focused a little closer on the red wolf before drawing back and planting his back against the trunk of the tree in shock.
That wolf isn't red... he realized. That's...that's blood. Severus let out a silent, shaky breath before a growl caused him to look back at the two wolves. He bit his lip before casting an undetectable identification spell on the grey wolf.

Severus stored the information with a flick of his wand before casting the spell on the other wolf, whose color he was now unsure of. When the results came back, he had to bite his tongue harshly to keep from crying out in surprise.

Severus stored that information quickly before looking back at the dueling wolves. Doshun was on top of Harry, staring at the younger wolf who, after a minute, laid his head back and closed his eyes.
"Not today, you arse," Severus muttered before casting a strong Sectumsempra at the grey wolf. The wolf yelped loudly as a large gash opened on her side, and she whipped her head around to glare at the black-haired wizard.
"You're not killing him," Severus said, glaring at the wolf. "That's Lily's son." Doshun stepped off of Harry's unconscious body and prowled towards the man.
Severus cast a second cutting spell, but the wolf evaded it deftly. Severus cast a shield charm quickly enough to deflect the wolf as she leapt at him. In hindsight, it was kind of funny how the wolf bounced off the shield, smashing her nose into it like a bird smashes into a clean window. The dazed look on her face as she stumbled slightly was even funnier, but Severus didn't have time to laugh as he cast a Petrificus Totalus at the wolf, successfully turning her into a living statue.
