AN: ahhh it's been a while. Feels good to be back. This one might be edited again later. Moving on ;)

Phoenix stared back at the silver haired man sitting calmly in front of him, before breaking an amused smile.

"Nice one, detective." He chimed in after a minute, eyes filled with disbelief as he leaned back against the uncomfortable plastic chair. The other barely lifted a brow in response, steely eyes glinting in the dim light of the interrogation room.

"I am not here for your amusement, wright." Phoenix's smile fell a bit, and a bare hint of that skilled side of him could be seen in his eyes as he leaned in, hands gripping the edge of the table firmly despite the handcuffs around his wrists.

"That, or my ears are acting up for the first time." They both knew that couldn't be true. phoenix had sharp ears, which was strictly needed in his line of job. Instincts were everything.

Miles merely returned his gaze with an unamused glare, which seemed to have the complete opposite reaction from the thief. He looked even more amused than before.

"I think i heard you saying you guys need my help." Phoenix had that teasing smile on his face again, and surely he'd have crossed his arms if it wasn't for the handcuffs.

Yet again, miles stayed quiet, and if it wasn't for the cold cuffs against his wrists phoenix would have thought he was the one interrogating the man, not the other way around. He let out a sigh, tracing a certain pattern on the metal surface again and again.

"Tell me, how bad it is that the infamous miles edgeworth needs a thief's help?" Phoenix grimaced as the thief word slipped out of his mouth, but his eyes held that unreadable glint in them that had everyone frustrated.

"But you aren't a thief, wright." It was miles' turn to lean in, eyes mainly focused on the man sitting before him.

"Are you?" Phoenix raised a brow, clearly unaffected by the small space between them. He didn't even bothered to lift his gaze from the metal table, as if he discovered something interesting in there.

"You and i both know the answer, edgeworth." He replied and miles paused, giving him a knowing look as he leaned back. His shoes clicked against the floor as he walked around the small room, arms crossed behind his back.

"Why did you steal the talisman?" Phoenix snorted at the question. "As a detective you should know by now." Miles glared at him.

"I have been a detective for years. I would recognize a thief from miles away." Miles narrowed his eyes. "You do not seem to be accustoumed to doing that." Phoenix stopped, and for the first time miles saw a hint of real emotion in his eyes.

Fear.

But as soon as it came it was gone, replaced by a cold glare as he as well stood up. Even with the handcuffs, phoenix could be as intimidating as miles if he wanted to.

"Maybe you're right. Things don't go as we plan, edgeworth. You should know that." The words caught the detective offguard as the‌ 'thief' shrugged, the unreadable facade back as he lifted his head to look at him again. He was just a few inches shorter than him, but that heavy gaze of his made up for his disadvantage in his height.

Now miles understood why people refused to look at the thief in the eyes if ever confronted. Phoenix wright possessed no supernatural ability, yet he had eyes that didn't seemed to be much earthly if miles were to be honest.

Maybe the most dangerous thing about those ocean blues, was that they held nothing but honesty. Miles had suspected that he was the victim rather than the criminal but he didn't expected this raw honesty either. He could tell the man before him was a bright one, before someone decided to ruin his life for him.
