'Originally, Terra was designed as a prison for the Cosmic's worst foes but slowly developed into a man made realm for both man and monster. The Revenant Covens are considered the most dangerous part in the entire Cosmic. Though it was the birthplace of darkness elementals, the area was dominantly inhabited by revenants; victims of light elementals' forbidden resurrection magic.
The Revenant Covens were established in Terra's earlier days, when man started being sentenced to imprisonment there. The evolved offspring of man and monster were humans with monster powers and abilities. Darkness is the only element to have been developed in place of begotten but counts as an element because darkness itself cannot be created or destroyed.
Darkness users as young as a few days old were removed from their homes in Terra and given to Cosmic couples to be raised as elementals. At age seventeen, these darkness users were force to breed amongst each other, and only amongst each other.
By 1502, the darkness population made up 49% of the total Cosmic population; light was 28%; fire and earth each made up 10%; water was 2%; and air made up 1%. In 1784, the Cosmic government - made from majority water and air users - declared a mandatory collection of light and darkness users to Veil. There, large amounts of both elementals were exterminated and a new law, the Fertility and Sterilization Act of 1785, was implemented'.
'Sliver Crow Academy was founded by four of the six generals of the Great Elemental Army: Monica De Facto a water user, Jeremy Shultz an air user, Alexi Stridor a light user and his older brother, Alexa Stridor, a darkness user. Their statues were placed on the school's dormitory building while Chester Sophia -the earth general's- statue was placed above the faculty quarters as he taught history in his retirement years. As for the fire general, Christof Damask, his statue was initially placed above the gymnasium but was moved to the catacombs after he was found guilty of trading battle strategies with Terra's leadership.
Legend says that Christof was given an amulet from Terra's leadership for his efforts. The amulet was said to grant its wearer immortality and instant healing. During the Great Terror, the five loyal generals - and Damask's second-in-command, Enoch Ferndale - seized amulet before executing Christof but the generals knew that he attached all his powers - more over, his soul - within the amulet. So, to protect Terra from releasing the general, the amulet was locked away deep in school's catacombs. The amulet was hence forth named the 'eternal flame'.
'The eternal flame was rumored to be locked away by the five remaining generals and Damask's second-in-command, Enoch Ferndale. The key they used was broken into sixths: one for each element and each piece had a triskelion on it, unique to each element'.
"Wait a second," Quinn stated to herself. "Runic for earth, soul stealing for darkness, resurrections for light, blood bending for water, pyrogenic transfers for fire and pendulum for air. That has to be... Something." She sighed as she dropped her textbook to survey her bookshelf. "Randolph. P. Merton, 'Magics of the Ancient World'. Aileen Olin, 'Book of Shadows'. Holly. E. Barley, 'Back to Basics'. And... Where are you? There! Ariana Paros, 'Mixed Blood'."
'Rune magic, or divination, uses stones with symbols that are used to predict one's future. The earth elementals of the ancient world would use different materials that they usually kept in pouches. The symbols can mean different things, the meaning applies more to the castor than the seeker and depends on the circle it falls in. The combination of the runes that fell is the answer to the question'.
'The practice of pyrogenic transfers is the oldest known forbidden practice of the six forbidden practices of the Cosmic. The Ancient World of Scorch was predominantly fire elemental populated and the origins of pyrogenic magics'.
