"Little red Prada bag?"
"Toss it."
"Black spring collection stilettos from Jimmy Choo?"
"I will never part with those."
"Great! Now all that's left is Dior, Dolce and Gabbana, Chanel, Louis Vitton, Gucci, Zack Posen and Tadashi Shoji." Erica sighed as she collapsed onto her knees next to a Louis Vitton handbag. "Did you really need to buy all this earthly junk, Raquel?"
Raquel was stuffing her Jimmy Choo's into her seventh suitcase before zipping it shut. "It's not junk. Humans use fashion to showcase trends and I happen to like it. You know, all those brands you called out, some people on would kill just to try on."
Erica stood up and took Raquel's hands in her own, "as your big sister, I'm advising you to refrain from interacting with the earth students at your school." Raquel crossed her brows but before she could argue, Erica continued. "You might overwhelm some of them. Some are still knew to the idea of alternate realms and here you are -a celestial- going on about earthly things. You're going to make them leave before they actually get settled in. You know, I get it, you like what you like but, the shopping trips to earth? Watching earth tv?"
"Hey, Netflix is life! Besides, when as any other realm come up with a tv series that lasted longer than two seasons? And please, documentaries don't count!" Erica sighed in defeat then so did Raquel.
"Okay but can you scale down on the clothing? You have a school uniform for a reason."
"I don't even know what school I'm going to! This is what I hate about the Cosmic's department of education; you're done with middle school but you only find out what high school you're going to at the end of summer."
Erica nodded and the room went silent then suddenly realization hit the sisters and their jaws both hit the ground. "The letter!" They both yelled then rampaged down stairs to the kitchen.
Raquel was in the kitchen first. "Dad?" A deep grunt came from the living room and Erica followed the sound to their father -half asleep. Raquel stormed up to him and Erica splashed the beer on the coffee table on him. "My letter? Is it here?"
Groggily, their father sat up. "Letter," he mumbled slowly. "Raquel's letter?" The man stretched away his sleep an he was suddenly rejuvenated. "Oh that's right! You got into Granite City."
"You read my letter?!" Raquel roared. "Dad!"
"Granite City? That's the reform school for Terra kids. Oh shit, Raquel, what did you do?"
"A reform school?" She hissed, "oh hell no! I'm dropping, I'll go work with mom at her requirements store." The father chuckled evilly at his youngest daughter as he pulled out a letter from underneath him and handed it to her. Snatching it wickedly she scanned through it searching for this inconvenience. "Silver Crow Academy! What the hell, did we win the lottery?"
"No way," Erica commented then took the letter. "How is it you get into the top school in the entire Cosmic with C average but I got into Cresting Girls with a solid A?"
"It's a new scholarship program," their father clarified. "Instead of taking intellectually inclined students, the school is offering scholarships to powerful elementals. Of course your grades are going to have to increase to at least a B- in order for you to stay."
"Why would I got to a school on the other end of the Cosmic just to be mocked by a bunch of upper class snobs and teachers who judge your every move when I can stay here with easy access to a earth portal?"
Erica cleared her throat before whispering, "um, Rocky? Dad teaches physics there."
"I rest my case!"
"Raquel!" Their father hissed, making the fish tank tremble. "Get this idea of having a way out of high school out of your mind right now! You're going to the top school in the entire Cosmic Empire because of your strength. Be grateful that you have something to be proud! Now go upstairs and pack your bags; were leaving tomorrow night."
Rushing to her room with a burning fury, Raquel muttered all sorts of insults. Her brunette pixie cut swayed a bit when she turned to slam her door. Her brown eyes were filled with fury and her fair skin was reddening. "Why are water users so fussy? Urg! I swear at times like these, we earth users could literally destroy the whole Cosmic."
She fell on to her bed and stared up at the ceiling. She started giggling when she felt something slimy wriggle up her leg. She kicked up her leg so that it was straight in the air. It was a large black leech-looking creature that excreted a transparent slime as it moved.
"Oh, hey Zoo. Erica's downstairs, if you're looking for her." The leech crawled next to her and curled up into a hard ball. "I hate school."
Raquel 'Rocky' Haynes:
Powers: earth
Pets: none
Character: Raquel is energetic and gets overly excited about earthly fashion. Like earth, her emotions are set in stone -excuse the pun. When she's angry right now, she'll show it if she's sad, she'll show it. She loves interacting with earth's people and believes that they have more color in their lives than celestials do.
