The following day, the four roommates dispersed to their various classes for the first time, along with their fellow freshmen. The dread and excitement in the air of the banquet hall was radiated from the freshmen. At the breakfast table, Phoenix and Aria sat and compared all four their schedules.
The seven classes that were implemented by the Department of Education were specifically designed for students to be both educated in the Cosmic's various studies and prepared for physical combat.
History of Evil Charms, Magicology, Beast Training, Astronomy, Elementary Combat, Physical Combat and Weaponry Arts are the Cosmic's compulsory education classes. However institutions are allowed to implement extra classes -of which students must take two.
"I have Astronomy with the Princess first period then Magicology alone," Phoenix stated while Quinn gave her a sharp look. "What? Everyone calls you Princess, you can't be offended by me, we share a dorm room."
Raquel sighed then leaned onto Aria to study the schedules. "Then Aria, Quinn and I have Magicology, while you're in Art class. Then we're only together for Elementary Combat last period." Quinn studied the schedules attentively while Raquel watched her. "What?"
Quinn shook her head slowly, without looking away from the four pages. "It's just upside down," she shook her head again, "it looks like the words are in... It's impossible, though."
Aria turned her haphazard attention from her toast to Quinn, "what?"
"The words are in Zilch."
Raquel rolled her eyes, "will you just tell us!"
Phoenix tapped on her shoulder then whispered, "Zilch is a language." She turned back to Quinn blankly. "What does it say?"
"It looks like some sort of sacrificial ritual."
Aria held up a hand to stop her, "isn't Zilch the language of our History of Evil Charms textbooks? The entire language is charms and spells, isn't it?"
Quinn nodded and Phoenix turned Raquel questioningly, "you think this has something to do with headmistress Cade and this catacombs business?" Raquel nodded.
"After I heard Quinn say 'sacrificial ritual', I immediately thought of her." Aria sat up straighter but not from the speculation, Graham walked passed Quinn and winked at her. "Aria focus," Raquel ordered and she slouched again. "Now we really need to get to Ferndale."
Phoenix held up her index finger, "one problem," they all turned to her with dread, even Quinn surprisingly. They feared that Alister may have rejected Phoenix's request to leave campus - even though he already approved it. "We have an entire day of school to get through, first. Not to mention the wards only open tomorrow after noon."
Raquel nodded thoughtfully, "then let's get going. We'll meet up before Elementary Combat in the quad."
The four dispersed to their classes, two of them impatiently wanting the school day to end, one sitting through her classes daydreaming about her head boy crush. The other deeply convinced that her roommates are too ridiculously invested in this so called 'mystery'.
After changing in the various girls' rooms around the school, the four met in the heart of the quad, as arranged, before Elementary Combat. "At least now the school day is almost over," Aria voiced and failed at being optimistic. Her roommates (especially Raquel) wore expressions of deflation. "What is it?"
"Cade's the EC teacher," Raquel spat bitterly. She turned to Quinn, headmistress Cade, behind her, "you still don't believe me?"
"You've speculated ninety percent of you theory," she replied, "forgive me for not buying it."
