My name is Madelaine. I'm seventeen years old, and I moved to Los Angeles on my own from Toronto, Canada when I was fifteen. I know fifteen is a young age to move such a large distance, but I needed a fresh start. In Toronto, I had a horrible history in school. When I was a freshman in high school, I was at my most vulnerable state. I went through a lot. I lost my grandfather due to him not caring for his diabetic self. And I was so depressed, my friends left me. They said I was too depressing. Not only that, but I got a call from my boyfriend, Daniel, who dropped me on my birthday, a month after I lost my grandfather. He told me he couldn't deal with me being upset, and he told me not to think about him, not to talk to him, or to make any form of contact with him ever again. I was devastated. I isolated myself from everyone. And ever since then, I haven't had a boyfriend. Because of all of this, I dropped out of that hell known as high school, and I now attend an online school.

I moved into a house with the only person I trust, Melissa. She's my best friend, and we've been best friends for three years, ever since I lost all my friends. We met online, through Instagram fan accounts we both made, and she's been here ever since, and she's done so much to help me. I used to think there was no point of making friends if they were going to drop me, but Melissa changed that. Now I only think that way about love.

I mean, let's be real. Love is a complicated thing. A person could ask you out as a dare, or just to force you to do something you don't want to do, or use you just for money, and so much more could go wrong because you fell in love with someone.

Here I am now, stuck on this couch watching my favorite television series, Riverdale. As Jughead was about to kiss Betty, my phone buzzed. It was from Instagram. I opened the app to see something I never wanted to see.

"Daniel Parker has requested to follow you."

This can't be happening.

I take a screenshot, and deny his request.

I sent the screenshot to Melissa, and she immediately called me.

"What the hell?" She screams into the phone.

I pulled my phone away from my ear to stop myself from going deaf.

"First off, stop screaming. Second, I know right?" I replied.

"This is insane. Do I need to tell him to lay off?"

"No. If you do, it'll create more drama."

"Okay fine, I'm going grocery shopping do you need anything?"

"Ice cream, york peppermint patties, goldfish, and cereal."

"What about fruits? That's all crap."

"Bye, mom!"

"Bye." She laughed, as she hung up.

I went back to watching Riverdale, when my doorbell ringing. I opened the door to see a package. When I opened it up, there was a big glass vase, with one rose, and a note.

"Roses are red.

Violets are blue.

You don't remember me

But I never forgot you."
