Melissa walked through the door as I put the rose in a vase.

"We're going to 7-Eleven!" She yells.

I groaned. "Why?"

"Because, silly! Today's July eleventh, so the date is seven-eleven! We get free-slurpees!" She exclaimed.

"Fine." I said.

I was walking towards the door, but Melissa stopped me.

"You are not going out like that!" She says.

"Why not?" I asked.

"You're wearing a sweatshirt and sweatpants. It's eighty degrees outside."

I guess she has a point.

"Fine." I say walking to my room.

I changed into a pink marbled halter top, and denim high waisted shorts. I took out my messy bun and let down my straight, blonde hair.

"Is this better?" I ask.

"Much. Now let's go. You're driving by the way." Melissa says, throwing me the keys.

I grab my sunglasses, and we're out the door.

Melissa and I put the radio on full blast. It was our favorite singer, Shawn Mendes.

"It isn't in my blood!" She and I yell, the wind blowing in our hair.

When we arrive to seven eleven, there was a huge line. We waited twenty minutes for a tiny slurpee.

We stayed there until we finished our drinks.

"So the thing with Daniel is new." She mentions.

"Yeah. I just don't understand why he wants to follow me." I respond.

"What if he wants to get back together with you?"

"Oh hell no. I would never." I said.

As we were throwing out our drinks, someone I thought I would never see walked through the door. My jaw dropped along with my drink.

"Maddie what's- oh my lord." Melissa said.

Brown hair, blue eyes, sharp jawline.

Daniel.

"He's walking up to you." Melissa muttered, elbowing me.

"Madelaine, hey!" He said, walking up to hug me.

I pushed him away.

"Daniel." I said slightly angry.

He frowned, but tried to make things less awkward.

"So... How are you?" He asks, scratching the back of his neck.

"Better now that you left my life. What are you doing in LA?" I asked.

"Oh, I moved here. And look-" He started but Melissa cut him off,

Suddenly Melissa walked up and kicked his shin, and threw her slurpee at him.

"What the hell?" Daniel yells.

"You know damn well what that was for!" Melissa yells.

"Let's go, Melissa." I said pulling her away from him.

"But Madelaine-" Daniel said.

I ignored him and walked out the door.

"Maddie are you okay?" Melissa asked worried.

"Yeah, he's not worth my energy." I responded, hoping she wouldn't know I'm lying.

"You sure, you're gripping the steering wheel incredibly tight. You're lying." She said.

Damnit.

"You're right. I just wasn't ready to see him again. He hurt me so bad." I said, tears filling my eyes.

"Aw don't cry! He's not worth it." Melissa said, comforting me.

"You know, you're right. He doesn't matter." I said, as I started driving.

We got to the house ten minutes later. I walked into my room and started drawing. I've always had a passion for art. I was in the 'Talented Art Program' in elementary school up until now. I was drawing a girl, looking in the mirror, and behind her, was a faded image of her grandfather comforting her, without her noticing.

Maybe that's happening now. Who knows?

Melissa walked in.

"You got a package!" She said, plopping the box on my bed.

I opened it up.

Another rose.

"Roses are red,

Violets are blue.

You hate me,

But I love you."

I put the rose in the vase the first one came with. I was still confused as to who was sending the roses, but a rose is my favorite flower.

Then I got a message on Instagram.

"Daniel Parker wants to send you a message."
