First Months at Prufrock

I am writing this poem from inside a shack

A home for orphans, this institute lacks

The Quagmire triplets are living In. A. Shack.

There are crabs that live under the hay bales we use for beds, and tan mould dripping from the ceiling. It is our only home at this austere academy.

Most of my family burned with my home

Now I sit and eat lunch all alone

Nobody wants to eat lunch with us, because Carmelita hates us. She hates all orphans, and we're the only ones. She calls us "Cakesniffers" and always leads this chant every day at lunch, "Cakesniffing Orphans in the orphan shack." Everyone sings it, even the lunch lady.

Every morning we go to class

I have to sit through 'Math' with Ms Bass

All day we measure things, time after time

All I want to do is write some more rhymes

Sitting in class,

Staring at the board,

The teacher acting like she's the lord,

Ruling over all of us poor kids,

Waiting waiting waiting,

I thought she was nice, but now her I'm hating,

This place gets so old,

Like old green shack mould,

I'd rather sleep my day away,

In a nice comfy bed,

With a stuffed bear with the name Ted,

I would rather shovel the snow,

Because I really do not want to go,

See what's the point dude,

Nobody's ever in the mood,

To go to school,

How is it a tool?

Someday I'm going to be wrinkly and old,

And hopefully not smell like shack mould,

School won't matter when I'm old as mould,

So that's my poem about Prufrock school,

And how it is so uncool.

I haven't written poems of late

It's because classes I really hate

The work I do makes me so tired

Sometimes I wish Ms. Bass would get fired.
