Chapter 5 Ugly as Ever?

          The next day, Marinette arrives to school early for once.  She is not sure how since she was sure she hit the snooze button more than four times!  Yet, her she is on time for a change.  Perhaps, this is the day she will no longer have others look down on her due to her looks. Maybe, maybe not!

         "Oh, hi, Marinette Dupain-Cheng, or is it Miss Dupain Ugly as Ever?"  Chloe retorts.

           Sabrina does not say a word since she is still sore at Chloe for being so mean. She just goes straight to class without a word to Chloe or anyone else.  

         "Chloe, stop!" Adrien yells at her.

         "Ha, like what is Agreste gonna do about it? "Chloe says as she leans in rather close to his face.

        "Uh..." Adrien says. He thinks, wait, what is it that she really wants. He smirks.

      "Ha, that is exactly what we thought nerd!"  Chloe scoffs.

       Adrien says, "Chloe , if it were not for people who ridicule others the world would be a more pleasant place to live."

     "Oh, yeah!  If were not for nerds  than we would not have a need to ruin anyone else's lives!" Chloe retorts.

      Alya looks on in surprise that Chloe has not taken notice of her as she stands their with her phone in hand. She just put the camera on to record the moment she saw Chloe approach Marinette so the entire conversation is on video.  A video, that Chloe does not know about at all. 

   Adrien winks at Marinette as he waves at Alya. Then, to the horror of Chloe, who dares not admit she has a slight crush on him, he leans in and places his lips on Marinette's cheek. Not just any cheek,but the one where the birthmark happens to be as usual.  He smirks as Marinette closes her eyes.  He watches in amazement as she passes out.

   Alya got the entire thing on tape!  She runs off happy!  She thinks, wait until Marinette sees this!  She will freak, but she will so thank me later.

   Adrien holds Marinette in his arms as Chloe scoffs.  

  "How dare he kiss her!  She is so low!  Why I am way better than her, you know!"  Chloe remarks.

    "Well, that is not the way he sees it!"  Nino remarks. He laughs at the look that Chloe gives him and is glad that Adrien gave Marinette a kiss.

        Adrien  carries Marinette to the nurses office. He places her gently on the table.

     The nurse looks up and says,  "Well, what can we do to help?"

    "Marinette, she needs help!" Adrien answers.

        The nurse looks at her and it seems she might hurl!  She cannot stand the sight before her eyes.  Why this blunette is the most ugly girl ever!  How can Adrien waste time with her?  Ew!  She dares not speak her mind though.  Instead she gives a fake smile, and says, "We will see what we can do for her."    

      "She past out after a simple kiss on the cheek see it was right there!"   Adrien says, as he points the spot where he left a kiss.

      Marinette opens her eyes and looks at him. She blushes and turns away.  She mutters, "A-Adrien why did he kiss me?  It was an utter humilation!  Really, it was  in front of Chloe?"  

        Adrien laughs, and says,  "Good to see she has not forgotten everything!"

         Marinette giggles,  "Yeah, yeah do not flatter yourself, Agreste!"  She continues to grin just the same.

       The nurse does not find anything wrong with Marinette.  "The girl is healthy, so  see to it that she does not let her bully make her upset or she risk another fainting spell. It seems she past out from the shock!   She is free to go now!"  The nurse states.

       "Thanks!" Adrien says.

      "Sure anything for such a cutie!" The nurse says. She even winks at him.

        Adrien does not seem to notice. He grabs Marinette's hand and returns to class with her.  He lets go of her hand and sits down in his desk.  Marinette sits in her usual seat as well.  She is just glad that he does not really like her.  Why, if he did that would make things so awkward, right?  Nah, there is no way he likes her!  Not in a million years!

     Later after school, Chloe shoves Marinette hard and her head hits the stair rail.  She laughs and runs off as if it is no big deal!  Adrien walks over to Marinette, sees the gash and gasp.  He carries her back to the nurses office and watches as the nurse bandages Marinette's head.  Then, he carries Marinette to her house.  He  sets her down on her bed and whispers, "Take care, Marinette!  Take care!"

      Adrien goes home.  He works on homework and finishes early as usual.  He daydreams about Marinette and thinks, man if only Marinette knew how I feel.  How would she react?  Would she be happy or think I am out of my mind?  Would she still smile ?   He sighs.   He does not agree with Chloe at all.   Marinette is not ugly as ever, she is the pretty one he takes notice of himself.  He knows Marinette is pretty even though she does not know it yet.
