Her

A Recovery Vacation

We decided instead of going back to Berk we'd all take a long needed trip to the Dragon's Edge. The whole trip I was tending to Thora's freezer burns. I felt awful she was in so much pain. I studied every part of her face carefully. You could see where the tears had frozen over her face, some even breaking off. She had a few little scabs from them. Her hair was a mess, and her skin was blood red. I tried my best to keep her warm. But, it was hard being we were both just as cold. And Thora being frozen like she is Hookfang can't warm us. She started to fall asleep. But, she'd die if I didn't keep her awake. So, I shook her a little bit.

"Hey. You can't fall asleep on me. You might not wake back up." I said quietly to her. We flew in front of everyone else. She hasn't really responded verbally to anything I say to her. Hiccup caught up with us.

"How's she doing Snotlout?" 

"She won't speak. But, she's alive. I'm having a hard time keeping her awake though." I looked at him desperatly.

"Do you want the blanket?" He asked holding one folded blanket out.

"No. She'll get comfortable. It'll really put her to sleep."

"I meant for you. You know if she was able she'd beat you for not covering yourself." Hiccup said.

"I know. I guess that's a reason for her to keep fighting. So, she can beat me when she feels better." I laughed looking down at her again. I then grabbed her sitting her up facing me. I laid her head on my shoulder and I hugged her keeping her upright so maybe she'd stay awake more. I looked up at Hiccup who was still holding the blanket. I took it wrapping it around my back, and holding it with both hands. That's when Fishlegs flew up next to me.

"Snotlout. If you want. Meatlug and I can hold her for a while. You must be exhausted."

"Fishlegs. I couldn't sleep if I wanted to." I said looking forward.

"Well, we can make camp in a cave there. We can all help start warming up Thora." Hiccup smiled pointing to an Island a head.

"Sounds good to me." 

So, we landed on the island and found a cave.  On one side of the cave was the Team. They were huddled around Hookfang. I had Thora on the other side of the cave because if she gets heated to fast she could break. So, I started a fire and laid her close enough the heat could get to her. I wrapped her in a blanket as she drifted off to sleep. I laid by the fire hugging her.

The team was sitting around Hookfang while Snotlout made him and Thora their own little fire on the other side of the cave.  I watched as Snotlout tended to her.

"Only if Thora could comprhend this is happening..." I half smiled.

"She'd maybe believe he loves her..." Fishlegs said.

"Do you really think she'll be okay Hiccup?" Ruffnut asked.

"If Snotlout keeps this up? Absolutely." Hiccup reasured us.

"Well. I better go give them some food." Standing up I grabbed a tray and carried it to Snotlout.

"Here. Eat..." I smiled at him.

"Uhm? Are you okay Astrid?" He looked confused. Almost scared.

"Yeah why?"

"Because, you're smiling at me."

"Because Snotlout. Look at you over here. You're trying your best to save a life. You actually love someone you don't deserve. Not the other way around. You found your Viking in Battle. You know she'd fight till the end for you. And I honestly hope she'll be okay, and she'll realize that you'll do the same for her." I said to him sitting down as he started sitting up.

"I just hope this Vacation helps her out." 

"Look at you! Not thinking about yourself! She's too good for Snotman." I teased. 

"All I'm thinking about is myself. What if I lose her? It's not okay." 

"At least if she dies Snotlout. She died being yours." 

"I rather her live as someone elses then die being mine." He growled at me.

"And that dear Jorgenson is how you know. You love someone. You found your only Snotlout."

Astrid left going back over to Hookfang. I laid down and eventually drifted off to sleep.
