I flip onto my back and open my eyes. I don't want to get out of bed yet but I know I'll have to because if I don't, the kids will wake me up. I look to my side once I remember Ethan stayed the night with us and Penny and Gavin slept in bed with us. But the only one there, is Gavin. I smile and tuck the blanket around him further, kissing his forehead. I get up and bring the baby monitor from the boys' room into mine and take the travel one with me, heading downstairs, looking for Penny and Ethan. I hear Lily and Penny laughing. I follow it to the dining room. There sits DJ, Lily, Penny, and Ethan. They're all eating pancakes and there's still a whole stack left for me and Gavin when he wakes up. The girls' laughter quiets down and Ethan looks up and smiles at me. I smile back and walk into the kitchen making myself a cup of coffee. A couple seconds later I feel his arms wrap around me. I smile again. "How did you sleep?" He whispers in my ear "I slept great. Thank you for making them breakfast." "It was no problem. They're fun to be around, I can see why you do it everyday." My cup of coffee is ready and I add sugar and creamer to it then turn myself around in Ethan's arms so I'm face to face with him. "I should go wake up Gavin so he'll lay down for nap time later." Ethan nods his head and unwraps his arms from me. For a second, I miss it, but I have to focus. I set my cup back down onto the counter and begin to walk away when Ethan grabs my wrist. I look back at him "what E?" He pulls me into him our faces really close to touching. He's staring really deeply into my eyes. We almost kiss, but then the monitor erupts and Gavin starts to cry out for me. Ethan closes his eyes and takes a gulp. Letting go of my arm, I rush upstairs to Gavin and bring him downstairs. I sit Gavin down at the table and cut him up some pancakes, setting it in front of him on his high chair. I hear Ethan get up and go into the kitchen. When he comes back, he's got a full plate of pancakes for me and my coffee. I smile up at him. "Thank you." "You're welcome." He sits down next to me and wraps his arm around the back of my chair. "So what did you have in mind for today? We could go do something with the kids. Take them for a little adventure." "Usually we just stay home and wait for Alana to come home but she told me today was going to be a late day so, really we could do anything. What time is it?" Ethan checks his watch "9:30" "what?!" "What?" "Well I- I just, Ive never woken up that late when I was with the kids before." "Well today you did" "I guess I did.." "Angel?" "Yes bub?" "Can we go to the zoo today?" DJ asks. He hardly ever asks for anything so if he wants something, I usually try to give it to him. "Sure bub. I guess we're going to the zoo today" I giggle and Gavin giggles too.
After getting everyone dressed, I begin to put together the diaper bag. "Okay everyone line up. Sunscreen time." I start with DJ and spray his arms and legs. "You know the drill. Rub it in bub" DJ nods and begins rubbing his arms and legs. I spray lily next, and then penny. Gavin too, I look over at Ethan "sunscreen?" He shrugs his shoulders and then sticks his arms out so I can spray them. I do and then spray myself. After that I grab the lotion version and pour some into DJ's hands so he can rub it on his face and neck. I do the girls' and Gavin's faces myself, then I put some on my own face too. "What about me?" "What about you what?" I look over at Ethan "aren't you gunna rub sunscreen into my face too?" He fakes pouts. "Yeah! He can't get burnt angel! He'll turn into a ladybug!" "Lobster, Penny, a lobster" I giggle and grab the sunscreen once again pouring some into my hand and rub it onto Ethan's face while sitting on his lap. "We good?" "We're good" Ethan laughs. I stand up and load Gavin into my car. "Okay. Who's riding with Ethan and who's riding with me? Penny and lily race over to Ethan and practically crawl all over him. "I'm riding with Ethan!" They say at the same time. "If they're going with him, can I ride in the front seat?" I think about it for a moment. "Sure bub. But you need to sit on your booster seat still" DJ nods and grabs his seat from the back. I give Ethan the girls' seats also and put The diaper bag and stroller in the back of my Jeep. "Okay" I look over at Ethan "so do you know where the zoo is?" Ethan shakes his head. "Me either. I'll look up the directions. Just follow me." Ethan nods. I start to walk away to the drivers seat of my car and Ethan grabs my wrist again. "Hey" he pulls me back to him. "Yes?" He leans in and give me a quick kiss. "Okay now we can go." I giggle. "Ethan we're going to the same place" "I know, I just wanted to do that before we left." I shake my head at him and climb into the drivers' seat of my car. "Let's go to the zoo boys!"
