I pull the last batch of cookies out of the oven as Ethan walks in the kitchen. I put them on the cooling rack and set a timer so penny knows when they're not so hot anymore.
I walk out of the kitchen and see Ethan and the kids decorating some of the cookies that have already cooled down. "Ethan! Look at my puppy! Isn't it cute?" "Yeah" Ethan chuckles. "He's the one of the most adorable things I've ever seen lily. You're really good at that" Lily's whole face lights up and she starts decorating more cookies. The whole moment melts my heart but I know Ethan has to go home soon and I have to start dinner before Alana gets home. I fully walk into the dining room and Ethan sees me. He turns his head towards me and smiles. "Okay I hate to be the bearer of bad news but guys, E has to go home soon." "Nooooo" Lily and Penny both start pouting. "I'm sorry guys, but he has some things he has to do, right Ethan?" I give him a look that tells him he has to agree with me. "Yeah sorry kiddos. I have to go home now. But I had so much fun spending the day with you guys! I'll definitely be back!" The girls start giving me puppy eyes silently begging me for Ethan to be able to stay. But Alana would rip me apart if she knew that I had a boy over last night. He has to go.
I walk Ethan to the door after he gets his things. "Thanks for staying with me and the kids. I really appreciate it and I know they had fun." Ethan smiles. "Anytime baby. Thanks for letting me stay with you guys. I had a lot of fun." I smile back at Ethan and then look down at how our hands are intertwined. I look back up at him. " okay well you better get going cause I have to get dinner started for the kids and clean up a bit before Alana gets home. But text me?" "Okay" Ethan leans down and kisses me. I smile and kiss him back. "Bye E" "bye babe" Ethan leaves and I go start making dinner. I just hope Alana doesn't kill me for having Ethan here.
*After dinner*
"Okay, Lily, Penny go get your pj's on. Dj you need to take a shower so please go do that. Gavin, lets go get you in some jammies okay?" The girls head to their room to pick out their pajamas while Dj heads to the bathroom. Gavin and I head to the boys' room to pick out some pajamas for him. Right as I'm about to finish putting gavin's shirt on, I hear the girls start yelling that Alana is home. "Angel? Where are you?" "In the boys' room" Alana comes into the room with the girls attached to her. "Thank you for staying with them. I know this last week has probably been really difficult for you so I appreciate you still coming to take care of them." "Oh it's no troubles. I'm just glad I still get to see the little munchkins. There's some leftovers from dinner in the fridge I can warm you up if you'd like?" "Ooo yes please. I'm gunna put the girls down and then we can talk further." "Alright. Meet you downstairs." Alana and the girls head to the girls' room and I head to the kitchen with Gavin to warm up Alana some dinner. After putting the food in the microwave I grab a bottle of milk for Gavin to warm up to help him fall asleep faster. I know he's fighting to stay awake cause mom is home but I can also tell he's really tired. After Alana's food is done cooking I put Gavin's milk in the microwave for a minute to warm it up just a bit. I put Alana's food on the table and take Gavin upstairs to put him to bed. He lays down without a fight thankfully and fall asleep within minutes. I head back downstairs after tucking on Dj and checking on the girls. On my way to the kitchen I pass Alana in the dining room. "Hey Angel?" "Yeah?" "Can we talk?" "Sure, what's up?" "Well I've been hearing things, and the girls were talking to me. I just want to make sure you're okay." "Yeah I'm okay. Did the girls tell you we went to the zoo today?" "Yeah! They said they had a lot of fun! Also that you guys decorated cookies?" "Yeah! After we came home and they all had a nap, we made cookies for after dinner. I think there's still a few left in the kitchen." "Alright." "Okay well I'm gunna head home then. I'm pretty tired and I have a lot of schoolwork to catch up on" "alright. Call if you need anything." "Yes ma'am" I head up to my room to grab the basic things that I need to take with me and then head home.
*at home*
I walk into my apartment and something feels off. I immediately start to call Ethan on my phone. He picks up within a couple of rings. "What's up baby?" "Why do you keep calling me that?" I smile to myself "cause you're my baby and I want you to know that" "but we're not dating, are we? I mean we hadn't even kissed before last night.." "no, we're not dating yet but you're still my baby and I just want you to know that." "Okay well your baby misses you and also feels uncomfortable because something feels off" "what do you mean something feels off?" "I don't know I just walked into my apartment and something feels off. Can you come over please?" "Yeah. Go out to your car and wait for me. I'll be there as soon as I can." "Okay. Thank you. I appreciate you Ethan." "Anytime baby" I smile to myself again and then lock up my apartment as head back to my car and wait for Ethan to pull up.
