The Alliance

Alec's pov

I stepped through the portal into a busy hub of various downworlders. The bustle and noise produced meant that no one noticed us as we arrived. I took this moment to take in my surroundings. It was the place from my dream.
"Welcome to the New York Institute, Alexander." Magnus whispered in my ear before shouting over to a woman holding a clipboard. "Catarina!" Her head perked up.
"Magnus! You're back!"
"Not for long. I just came so Alexander could see what we were doing here."
"Oh. You must be Alexander then. I've heard a lot about you."
"Um.... Hi?" I said, unsure of what to make of her.
"Just want to say that if you hurt Magnus, well, I won't need to kill you. He'll do that himself." Catarina said matter-of-factly.
"Cat! Stop!" Magnus protested. "Alexander, I have something to show you."
He dragged me away from his warlock friend and into a quieter corridor.

Magnus pov

I dragged Alexander all the way up to the roof.
I pulled him down next to me and wrapped my arms around him.
"Look up." I told him, placing my fingers under his chin to angle his face up. "Look at the stars."
"How come we don't see them in the city?"
"Because of light pollution. This is what we're fighting for, Alexander, a world free of oppression and the pollution of demons. Will you join us?"
"Of course, Mags. Why wouldn't I? The 'Shadowhunters' that I am descended from were put on this earth by Raziel to keep the demons from this world. I think it's about time we took it back."
"Cool. I'll let Warp know that you're in."
"They're a rebel?"
"Alexander, they created this rebellion."
"Oh."
We sat there and looked at the stars for a bit longer, Alexander resting his head on my shoulder.
My phone buzzed. It was a message from my father:

Where are you.

"Alexander, we need to go now."
"Hmm... Why?"
"Before my Father thinks you kidnapped me."
"Oh." He was properly alert now.

I summoned a portal, and we stepped back into Michael's office.

So again, let's ignore the fact that I haven't updated in like a year. To be honest, I kind of just stopped writing. I've gotten back into it now, but I just didn't have the motivation to write. I even considered discontinuing this book. But I'm back now, and I can't sleep, so prepare for a lot of updates.
