Pov: Magnus

I was pretty sure Uma had lost it.

"By the Morning Star! What were you thinking! " Their eyes burned as they screamed at Asmodeus. "You would have ruined everything! I knew what I was doing, this show we put on will stop the Elite from doubting our dedication to the survival of their people!" 

I saw my father flinch. That was a first. Another first was that Warp had completely dropped their defences in front of Alec, and she wasn't even screaming in Purgatic. Anyone could hear them. However, they seemed to be calming down. They smoothed down their hair and continued in a quieter voice:

"And if you even think  about hurting Alec, I swear on the fires of Pandemonium that I will personally remove you from the Council, and then I will get Raphael himself to come and kill you. You've been warned."

They smiled and walked away from Asmodeus, who hurriedly created a portal and left.

I stood up, dragging Alec to his feet with me. Another first, being able to hold Alec's hand like this without being worried for his life if we were spotted. Warp's smile had slowly turned from a devilish grin to an angelic one. 

"Hello Alec, nice to meet you. I'm Warp. But I suppose you already know that. I hope this experience wasn't too traumatic, I never had any intention of letting you die. That would just leave me with a severely depressed Magnus, which is no fun at all."

"Oi! I'll have you know that I am still amazing even when I am depressed." I couldn't help myself. I just had to.

Waro smiled even wider. "So you're telling me that when you got banned from Peru and were considering suicide you were still amazing? Really?"

Alec looked up at me with shock. "What?" he asked.

"I admit that wasn't one of the best times in my life." I confessed.

Warp clapped their hands to remind us that they were still there. Not that we could. A dark angel with enormous wings was rather conspicuous in any situation.

"Back to the tower?" They asked. I nodded, and for the second time that day, Alec and I stepped into the swirling rush of the portal.
