Pov: Alec

I woke up on the floor of a monorail cart. The shackles rubbed the raw skin underneath them. At least they weren't pretending to respect me anymore. The memory was still fresh in my mind. Magnus had just left when members of Asmodeus' private army barged into my quarters in the Elite compound. I was too shocked to react when they secured me in the chains I wear now.

 The very thought that Magnus could have sent them made my knees buckle and I had collapsed to the floor right in front of them. I had woken up in the cart, bruised and tired. I almost laughed at how absurd this was. A moment ago, I had been one of the most high-ranking members of the Elite. Now I was a status less prisoner of the Demon Council.

My mind snapped back to reality just as the brakes squealed and we jolted to a stop. I was hauled roughly to my feet and escorted into the resplendent tower of the Demon Council.

Sorry the Prologue is short. The next bit will be a lot longer.
