A shoutout to you all awesome readers for being there. Patiently waiting and living all these updates! A special thanks to Anukansha your comments made my day! ❤️

I walked into the airport after all the formalities that I hated. And started to shop in a frenzy for every one. His parents, mine, friends et all. This trip was unplanned but every one would expect gifts. As I grabbed my coffee the check in for my flight was announced. I needed the coffee after two worse nights of my life. As I walked around in my sports shoes I realised I looked really bad and God forbid of mom came to pick me I would get the worst lecture ever. I went to the Mac makeup counter and purchased some kohl and tried on lots of blusher on my face to give it a glow.

The flight was boring and I checked my phone to see pictures of that night. I looked nice and it was so sad that the dress was ruined forever now. My thoughts drifted to Neil but I shut them out. I did not need to think about him especially now. I had so much to do once I was back.  This marriage thing was constant work. When the flight attendant asked me what I wanted to drink I thought twice before ordering a glass of white wine. And after that glass of wine I drifted off to sleep afterall it had been more than a day of proper sleep. The attendant woke me to get ready for the landing. I woke up feeling even more tired and very hungry. After landing I went to the washroom and saw the blusher was in place. I heavily applied the kohl all around my tired eyes. It was the only thing that could hide my under-eye circles. And I took a huge breathe knowing the next three days will be all about me, my parents and my in laws. As I exited I saw my mom and Neil's squeal in delight. Soon they were hugging the hell out of me. It comforted me and tears pricked my eyes. As my mom tried to eye talk me, I quickly remembered what she meant and touched my mother in law's feet. "Oh my Ishani! Good bless you with all the happiness and babies." Her blessings did not exactly seem like blessings to be very honest. I looked around, "maa where's papa?" I asked my mother. "Oh love we came with the driver. Your scene was so sudden that they both couldn't skip office. However they have promised to come early," my mom replied. And Neil's mom dropped the bomb, "Neil told us you wanted to surprise us but we decided to surprise you instead." I smiled. Neil was so smart he covered the entire trip as a surprise to avoid me answering their questions. "He told me you wanted to spend some time with your parents," Neil's mom wasn't too excited when she spoke the words. But I couldn't care, "it's just next door mummyji I'm so sure we'll all hang out together. It's just that I missed my home so much." As we walked over to the car Neil's mom started again, "Ishani you have lost so much weight. Her colour also looks pale," she pointed to my mom. And then my mom asked the most unbelievable question, "are you expecting?"

I stared at her. If Neil's mom wasn't with us I would have killed mine, seriously when did this kid business become everything in a marriage. "Not at all mom," I mumbled and say in the front with the driver to avoid all questions. But these two kept asking me random things and at one point Neil's mom decided that tonight dinner would be at theirs and tomorrow I would be making lunch for all of them. Great just great! I wanted downtime not master-fucking-chef India in my three days. The only nugget of news I liked was that Reet would be here today evening after this week she would be opting for a elective C section. Reet had thankfully refused to move to Punjab and live with Sid's mom who was also Neil's aunt. She hated me ever since I got Reet and Sid married in front of everyone during my wedding ceremonies.

We entered my house and it still was the same. I remembered how Neil would pick me and drop me here. How uncomfortable family events were. In fact we slept togther here for the first time, in my room. My eyes watered up. It was like my tears were never ending and so was my 'let's remember Neil even though we are away from him for some space' mindset. I lay on the bed and fell asleep and woke up hours later. I looked at my phone it was around 5 pm already. I was in my pink blanket and the curtains were drawn which meant mom had come to check on me. I went to take a shower and looked in my almirah for some presentable Indian wear. I wore a pretty peach and mauve long kurta with some pants and dangling earrings. My makeup was still packed and the bags were downstairs. I saw my phone light up with a notification. Shit Nishant had accepted my facebook request I must have sent him that night drunk! Neil was going to be so upset. And that's when I saw his messages.

"Enjoy your time home."
Last was sent half an hour back, "mom is happy to have you back. I can tell she is so excited!"

I dialled his number to stop this latest shit-storm. "hey Neil," I said softly thinking about how was I going to let him know. "Ishani I'm just going towards a client meeting. Anything urgent?" I cleared my throat, "nothing much. Being home without you is no fun," that was an honest answer. But the main bit could be told off face to face.

Please do vote it means a lot and makes me smile more 😊
