Third pov
Elise's fury grew the closer sundown came. She told Laddie to stay hidden. That she would fix this.
Not that she knew how to accomplish that.
"Michael!"
"Michael they're coming!"
The shouting brought her downstairs only to have Alan, Edgar and Star run past her. She saw Michael and Sam push the couch against the door. They didn't expect Dwayne to come through the fireplace.
The sudden bang of light and bricks flying knocked Elise out and she fell the last steps of the stair.
What woke her up was the faint feeling of a kiss to her forehead and the intense burning that followed.
The darkness felt almost comforting as she laid, wheezing, trying to breath.
Dwayne and Sam fighting had her forcing herself to get up. "Dwayne don't!"
She couldn't reach him before the arrow did.
When had it gone so wrong? Why did she have to feel so helpless?
Why couldn't she get to keep the love and happiness she'd found here?
It felt like she could feel herself being fried along with her dark haired mate.
Michael and David fought and she wanted to hurt Michael for starting this. In a desperate effort she clawed at his back but he simply threw her off before impaling her last living mate with a pair of animal horns.
The only thing that went through her head was how much everything hurt. She was well acquaintanced with hurt and pain. Hell, her dad had once smashed a bottle over her head and pushed her down the stairs. She'd been covering those bruises for weeks. But this. It felt like her soul was breaking, hanging on by thin threads that was clinging to the pieces of her. Threads that refused to let her fall apart.
Sometime during her quiet sobbing she moved closer to David, not aware or caring of who saw her.
Star and Michael could feel the guilt eat away on them. Michael moved to the dark corner once they heard the three teens coming down the stairs. "Don't let them see me like this."
"Mike!"
Sam, Edgar and Alan saw David and Elise crying beside him. Sam turned to his brother and Star.
"Stay away Sam."
He looked confused. "Mike what's wrong?"
"I said get away!"
Edgar looked to the dark corner where Star and Michael stood. "What's the big deal? You destroyed the head vampire!"
To Michael and Star's horror they didn't feel any change. Absolutely nothing. "Nothing's changed."
"He's right i don't feel any different."
The door opened and Lucy entered along with Max. Lucy looked around in horror at the ruined house before Sam and the Frog brothers stopped her from moving further.
Max however looked over at his "son" that had been impaled, and noticed his newest "daughter" sobbing beside him. He did feel a little bad for the poor girl, with her mates gone she wouldn't last long unless she became human again. But oh well, he could find new children. "Oh you poor child, after this i should put you out of your missery." He muttered before turning back to Lucy.
"This is all my fault, Lucy. David and my boys misbehaved."
"Max, what are you talking about?"
Elise pov
Voices.
Distant....?
"Oh Michael, you couldn't have known i suppose. Be it a full vampire or half, no one lasts without their mate. Not unless they're human." The voice is almost condescending. I don't recognize it.
The man is wearing a suit and his face is that of a vampire. Why didn't they tell me about him? Did they go to visit him when they weren't with me?
The car horn is the only warning before a car backs into one of the walls, destroying it and sending poles through the man.
All the past months hunger, gone. Strange.
"MOM!" Laddie passes Star as he comes down from the stairs and hugs me.
My voice is raspy and can barely be heard. "My boy." I hug him close, feeling like he might disappear if i don't.
This is not the end. I repeat, this is not the end! There is still chapters coming of what happens next. I gotta ask, how many of you read my authors notes?
I can't say I'm a 100% back but i wanted to publish this.
Vote and comment, it keeps me motivated :)
