I sat in a chair beside his bed, waiting for him to wake up. "Was this what it was like while you guys waited for me to wake up after I injected with silver?" I asked Nathaniel. He nodded, "Yes it was." I brought my knees to my chest and wrapped my arms around them. "I'm scared that when he wakes up, he won't smile again," I confessed to him in a whisper. "We all fear that Alice," He whispered back.

Shelton came in carrying a tray of food. "You guys need to eat," he told us. I didn't move my eyes from the window I had been staring out of, "I'm not hungry." "Please eat," a voice belonging to a man who had been sleeping for weeks now, said. Our attention snapped to the bed and I launched myself at him. He groaned softly but hugged me back. "I'll go tell the others," Shelton said before leaving the room.

"We were so scared," I whispered to him. "I'm not going anywhere." He told me. I lifted up and kissed his cheek. Cindy and Pyrus then rushed in. I moved so they could hug him. "Just in time for Christmas," Cindy said as she wiped her eyes. Drake came in, shirtless and barefoot. He had spent the last two weeks in his dragon form on the roof of the castle.

"Christmas?" Qin asked, his voice hoarse. "How long was I out?" "Two weeks," Shelton replied to him. He ran a hand through his hair, that was in need of washing. "How do you feel?" Nathaniel asked him. "Stiff and tired," Qin replied. "Your wounds healed for the most part during the two weeks you were out, so hopefully after a quick checkup with the doctor you'll be able to leave the infirmary," Cindy said smiling. The corners of Qin's mouth lifted, but it wasn't a full smile, not like the ones we know.

We all left when the doctor came in and I groaned at the stiffness in my joints. "That's what happens when you sit in a chair for two weeks," Cindy said as I tried stretching, only causing my knees to make a pop sound instead. "Sorry I didn't have the drive to want to do things to distract myself from the idea of our mate, and us right along with him, from dying." I snapped at her. "Alice," Pyrus said, "That's uncalled for." Nathaniel put a hand on my shoulder, "She hasn't eaten or slept in days."

"It's no excuse for her to be a bitch," Cindy said while crossing her arms. I threw my hands in the air, "Hello, I'm a fucking wolf. What do you think that is? Oh yeah, the literal definition of a bitch." Drake then grabbed me and threw me over his shoulder, "Let's get you something to eat." "Woah!" I said then gasped when he gave my ass a good smack.

He took me to our room and had one of the servants inform the kitchen to make us something to eat. He then went to the bathroom after throwing me on the bed and I heard him turn on the shower. He then came in, "Strip for me, my treasure." I sighed and got up. I took off my clothes and he took off his pants. He leads me into the bathroom and we got into the shower together. I sighed and closed my eyes as he began to wash me.

"Tell me what's on your mind," Drake said as he worked the shampoo into my hair. "I hated feeling so helpless," I confessed to him. "Usually I'm always able to do something, but I couldn't do anything for Qin." Tears burned my eyes as I spoke. "I wanted to leap out of my seat and go help him, but I didn't want to disrespect him because I know it was him proving to his people he has the strength and power to be King." Goddess, I hated that feeling. "And on top of that, no one here respects me after all the shit I've done for everyone. All because I'm a part witch." Whenever I'm alone I get glares from the guards and servants all because they hate witches, yet don't want to take the chance to get to know me. "I don't want to kick their asses or anything because then they'll look at me with looks of fear and that's not what I want. It's so fucking frustrating, and I didn't mean to take it out on Cindy. It's just things kept piling up, and I snapped." I sighed and closed my eyes as Drake began to rinse my hair.

"You managed to get our parents to accept our mating. I'm confident you can get these people to come around as well." He told me. I sighed, wishing I had the confidence he had.

I then washed him before we got out. I dried off and put on a robe before leaving the bathroom. Dinner was on the coffee table waiting for us. He sat down then pulled me into his lap. I sighed and leaned into him. We sat in silence as he fed me. "You should apologize to Cindy, " He told me. "I plan to, " I told him. He laid the fork on the tray and then he stood with me in his arms.

He put me on the bed and took off his robe before getting in bed. He took my robe off before pulling me to him to lay between his legs with my head on his stomach. He covered me with the blanket then began to run his fingers through my hair. My eyes soon closed on their own accord and before I knew it, I was asleep.

Pyrus's POV

I walked into the bedroom and saw Drake leaning against the headboard with Alice asleep on top of him. I stripped down to my boxers before laying next to him. "How is she, " I asked him softly, not wanting to wake her up. "She's exhausted and the wolf in her wants to get the servants and such to submit, " Drake replied with a sigh. I laid down next to them, "She hasn't had a moment of peace since we met her. First, it was that bitch from the council, then it was the demon apocalypse, and now we have a whole new life here. She hasn't been able to figure out what is normal and to stop looking over her shoulder." I ran my fingers through her hair, my heart clenching for her.

"Let's not forget Cindy is pregnant and it's possible we'll have to deal with a rebellion and knowing Alice, she'll be the one on the front line trying to stop it, " Drake threw in. I sighed, hating he was right. Maybe we can establish some normalcy for us all before shit goes south. At least that's what I hope we can do.
