Alice's POV:
I woke up feeling warm and fully rested for once. My eyes opened to find everyone still in bed asleep. It was rare I was awake first. Yesterday was emotionally draining though so I didn't blame them. I teleported from the bed to the kitchen, enjoying my refueled magic. It's amazing what a full nights rest can do for you.I looked at the time and decided to start making some breakfast. Or in our case brunch. I put on the song 9 to 5 by Dolly Parton and began to sing along with it as I cooked. I sang and cooked for a while until I realized I wasn't alone anymore. All five of them stood in the doorway, looking at me lustfully. My eyes widened and my face began to feel hot, letting me know I was as red as a stop light. I quickly turned back to the breakfast, "It's almost ready." I could feel their eyes watching me intently as I finished cooking. Once it was done I turned off the music and went to grab the plates, but Shelton placed a hand on my lower back, stopping me. With him this close I could smell his arousal and it made my mouth water. I blushed and went to pour myself a cup of milk.
We all sat at the table and ate in silence until my phone began to ring with the council's ring tone. "Agent Grommel," I said when I answered. "About time you got a phone of your own. This makes things so much easier," Henrietta said. "Anyways, I have a job for you." "What is that," I asked before taking a drink of milk to wash down a bite of bacon. "There are a few blood poisoned vampires running around the city. Since you're the closest agent, I want you to take them out," She told me.
My blood ran cold. Blood poisoned vampires have taken out plenty of hunters and huntresses over the years. They were highly dangerous, and she's wanting me to go in alone. "Happy hunting," She said before hanging up. My phone chimed saying I had an email. It was information about the case. Some were too close their works. "None of you are to leave the house today," I said as I got up and put my dishes in the sink. I went upstairs and was loading a cross bow when Shelton came in. He held up a set of keys, "Do you know how to ride a motorcycle?" I raised an eyebrow at him and he took me to the garage. Two Ducatis were inside. "One you could ride for fun, while the other for work," He explained to me. They were beautiful. This model of the Ducati was made by werewolves, enhanced to out pace a vampire easily.
He turned me to face him, "Just be careful." Then his lips were on mine in a heated kiss that had me moaning. He pulled away with a smirk, "You'll get more when you come home safely." He walked away smugly and I went back up to my room to finish getting ready. I had just stood from my bed when Nathaniel came in. Worry swam deep in his eyes. He pulled me to him and kissed me just as intensely as Shelton did. When he pulled away he clasped a necklace around my neck, hanging from it was a silver ring with a ruby in it with his clan's symbol on either side of the gem. "Come back to us safely," He whispered. "I will do my best, but I can't make any promises," I replied. He nodded and kissed my forehead before letting me leave my room. I was shortly stopped by Pyrus on my way down the stairs. He removed my sunglasses, and looked into my eyes before he kissed me. He added to the fire Shelton caused, and Nathaniel spread. If this kept up, I would be leaving weak kneed. When he let me go he replaced my sunglasses with his own. I smiled softly before going down the stairs where Drake stood. He pulled me to him and kissed me. When he pulled away he slipped a leather bracelet onto my wrist. A dragon rune for protection was sewn into it.
I didn't get the chance to say anything before Cindy was pulling me to her, kissing me. When she pulled away I saw her eyes were filled with tears. "Come home to us," She said before snapping her fingers and a leather jacket appearing on me. I could tell from the smell of magic on it, it wouldn't be able to be torn by any weapon, claws, or fangs. I nodded, "I'll do my best."
I could never make a promise that I knew I could never keep to them. It would kill me if I couldn't keep it. I drove away on my black Ducati with a heavy heart.
Pyrus' POV:
"Do you think she'll be okay," Cindy asked us softly. "I don't know," Shelton told her honestly. That was one thing I loved about him. He never comforted with a lie. He always made sure we had the truth, no matter how bitter it was. "That bitch did this on purpose," I said through clenched teeth. "I know for a fact there are multiple agents near by who can handle this. She just want to see if it tears her up inside."
"What do you mean," Nathaniel asked me. I sighed and ran a hand through my hair. I had told them how her pack treated her, but I never told them about her parents. I felt it wasn't my place, still don't. "Her parents were killed by blood poisoned vampires when she was a kid," I told them. "Why are we just now learning this," Nathaniel asked me. "Because it's something we should've learned from her," Cindy said before I could. "It's her pain and her past and we have no right telling others if she tells one of us. It's clear it's hard for her to trust and she's trying her best to trust us." Shelton nodded, "She's right."
The others sighed and nodded. "Let's try to make the most out of right now while we wait for her come home," Drake suggested. Cindy smiled, "Let's go swimming!" The pool was indoors and it wouldn't be breaking Alice's, don't leave the house order. Plus we needed to distract ourselves while we waited, and seeing Cindy in a bikini while the others were shirtless was a perfect distraction.
Alice's POV:
I panted as I leaned against the wall of the warehouse I tracked them too. Hunting in the day was the best choice since during the day, they cant survive. The rumors of vampires started because a blood poisoned vampire had been caught by humans and when it went into the sun, it became ashes. Normal vampires can go out in the light as well as act like a normal person, just with perks. Except the drinking blood part.
I found a whole hive of blood poisoned vampires and had to call it in once I was done kicking ass. I was so tired and in no condition to drive. I wanted to call Shelton, but I barely had the energy to even lift my phone.
Then I remembered my head phones. I had one in my ear already. I hit the speed dial picture of his name and waited for him to answer.
"How is work," he asked me sweetly. In the background I could hear Cindy squeal before a splash followed while the rest of the guys laughed. "I finished my mission, but I'm in no condition to drive. Can you come get me and someone take my bike home," I asked him. "Of course."
I quickly told him the address and now all I had to do was wait.
Shelton's POV:
Nathaniel and I left the house quickly to get to her. The address was to a run down, rusted warehouse. The windows were blacked out and her bike was leaned against it. We went in and saw twenty or so blood poisoned vampires, dead on the floor. "Over here," she said weekly. She was sitting on the floor against the wall. She was pale, many claw marks on her legs, and her eyes were barely opened.
Nathaniel gently felt around for her keys, "Its gonna be okay my warrior princess." When he grabbed them I scooped her up and held her tightly. I laid her in the backseat before going over to the front just as a cleaning crew came in to clean up the bodies.
When we got home she was asleep. I carried her up to our room and laid her on the bed. Cindy came in, tears streaming down her face. Pyrus came in with Drake. They undressed her till she was in only her underwear. Drake was then cursing, "There is an injection wound."
To the human eye you wouldn't be able to see it, but it was clear as day to us one her jacket was off. Pyrus then felt her pulse, "Her pulse is getting weak." We looked at Nathaniel. "We dont know if she will survive the change. She already has mixed blood," he told us. "We would rather have a fifty fifty chance, instead of a hundred percent chance that we are going to lose her," Pyrus snapped.
Nathaniel caved and went over to her. He bit deeply into his wrist before opening her mouth to let the blood go down her throat. Once a good amount was in her system and his wound was healed we had no choice but to wait. While we did we washed and dressed her before laying her in the middle of the bed between us all. I sent a silent prayer up to the mood goddess, praying she lived through this.
