☆Chapter 29☆ Vasco's birthday

I was walking with Mina, Justine and Mary to the park where we were celebrating Vasco's birthday.

We were the last one to arrive, and as soon Rox and Macallan saw Vasco, both dogs jumped on the birthday guy, wagging their tails happily.

Everybody was freezing to death as Vasco played with the dogs.

I sat myself between Daniel and Zack, who were both shivering from the wind.

-I'm thrilled you came! Said Vasco, a big smile on his face.

-Happy birthday Vasco!

-Is big Daniel sick? Asked Vasco, suddenly sad.

-Oh yeah... I don't think he's gonna make it... Said Daniel, sweating a little.

-Aren't you freezing in those short?! Asked Zack, looking at my exposed legs.

I just shrugged, saying it's not that cold.

I looked around to see that everybody except me and Mina were shivering.

"I should tell Vasco that we all should head inside." I thought, turning to Vasco.

-Vasco? I asked, softly.

He turned to me, smiling like a child, as everyone else looked at me, hopes in their eyes.

-Yeah? What's up?

I looked at him, feeling a pang in my heart.

"I can't do that, he's too innocent. I can't break his fun. He would be so sad"

-Um- Nothing! I'm just happy to be here! I said, smiling.

He blushed and nodded, smiling even more.

After that, we stand up to sing happy birthday to Vasco.

-Happy Birthday to you! Happy birthday to you!

As people kept on singing, I talked with Jace and Daniel.

-Um.. What about the others Burn Knuckles? Asked Daniel, clapping to the beat of the song.

-We all had a party at a pork restaurant... We drew lots to see who would come here. We didn't need all to die. Said Jace, teeth clattering.

-It's not that cold... I whispered, yawning.

As we finished the song, Vasco was about to blow out the candle but...

The wind did it.

-Now let's go inside! I heard someone mutter.

But Vasco faked not seeing it and still blew out smoke.

-Everyone! Thank you. He said, smiling.

-Yeah...

I started feeling hot.

-Geez, it's hot... I said, shrugging off my jacket and letting it fall to the ground.

I felt someone facepalming and handing me my jacket back.

-You don't have to fake it so much! Said Jace, pushing my jacket into my arm. You're gonna catch a cold!

-No really, I mean, it is hot outside!

-You're only wearing shorts and a long-sleeve shirt! How can you think it's hot outside?!

-Hey, I'm from the Quebec okay? Winter is a deadly adventures in Quebec.

He just shook his head and we started giving the gifts.

-Here! Vasco! Here are pics of Enu's pups. Said Daniel, handing him the pictures. Since I know you like dogs...
