'I had a dream last night.' Dianne starts, twisting her body so she is facing Joe, the TV on in the background.

'That's nice, so did I' Joe feels a slap on his arm as he grabs her arm away, kissing her knuckles.

'Oi, fuck off. I had a dream last night that we were secret agents.' Joe hopes that, by now, he has managed to keep a convincing poker face, though he isn't sure if he has or not? This will be when he said something when he was drink, or he said something in his sleep.

'Secret agents you say, I could be 007?'

'No, you couldn't, you're far to scrawny.' Joe acts hurt but remains silent and lets her continue. 'It was strange. Could you imagine us as secret agents? Actually, I was a secret agent and you were an assassin, I think.'

'Hmm sexy.' He responds, pulling her in closer, desperate to move on from this conversation.

'I think you would make a good secret agent. Or assassin, I'd rather you be a secret agent. We could be a team.'

'We would be the best.' Joe agrees, his face flicking to the TV, the show catching his eye. 'Oh, I love this episode.' Dianne moves around a little, rolling her eyes.

'You like every episode.'

'Not all of them, the ending of season two was disliked by me.' He pauses for a moment. 'I am a man, in my early twenties, talking about shows I love. Jesus, I need to get a life.'

'Well I ain't gonna disagree with it.' She takes a sip of the tea on the table, wincing to find its too hot. 'Only because you fancy Villanelle, admit it?'

'Do you not think she's hot.'

'Wrong answer Joe. Anyway, I don't have a girlfriend and I'm straight. I'm allowed too. Choose your words very carefully Joe.'

'I mean she's just so badass. If I were an assassin, or a secret agent , I would want to be the male version of her. Anyway, you're just as badass as her and I would chose you any day' his grin matching that of the Cheshire cat, clearly proud of his answer.

'Of course, you would.' Dianne moves around a little, getting comfortable as she settles into the sofa, they've watched this episode so many times, but it's one of those shows they doubt they will get sick of anytime soon. 'Shame you wouldn't be as hot.'

'Do you have cats?' Joe mimics, a weird sort of thing they do when they watch the show, he's thankful of the diversion in the conversation, he always tries to dodge questions or conversations about this. Even if its unrelated to the police and it is just about secret agents, more specifically, TV undercover agents, like the one time they watched Law and Order: SVU, he panics. Dianne doesn't bother saying the next part, she never does, but it makes her laugh when Joe does. 'Maybe you should just get another one.' Dianne laughs, a proper belly laugh.

'Nah my favourite bit is the ending.' They are silent for a bit, 'You know, if we get married we need to have listen to your heart at our wedding.' Joe mumbles something, agreeing. He knows full well that they won't be getting married, but he goes along with it, smiling as Dianne sings along with the song, albeit very badly. 'Do you think we would make good parents?'

'What? Where has this come from? I've never really given it a thought?' That was true, he hadn't thought it would get this serious, where they talk about kids. He knows that one day this will be over, one way or another, and a baby didn't factor in any of the plans.
