Ast checked her watch and it read 3:24 a.m. Groaning, she got out of bed and walked to the bathroom in the dark, she shouldn't have drunken all that water before going to sleep.
She finished up in the bathroom and was just about to get back into bed when Miles bolted from his hiding place under the chair to the dormitory door that was left slightly ajar. He weaved past it and disappeared from sight. Ast whisper-called for him to come back but he wouldn't come. Regretfully, she put her slippers on and left the dormitory after him.
She finally found him downstairs by the fire and picked him up. She was just about to go back to her dorm when she spotted something lumpy on the sofa. She couldn't make-out what it was so she moved closer to have a better inspection of the object.
She realised that it was Remus lying on the sofa. He was asleep with an old blanket half on him. Being the good person she was, she adjusted his blanket so he was completely covered.
Why was he sleeping there? Did he have a fallout with the others? Did he have a nightmare?
Ast was so lost in her train of thought that she didn't notice him stir and wake up.
He looked at her and asked, "Asteria, what are you doing?"
"What are you doing here?" She demanded.
"Too lazy,"
"What do you mean?"
"Forgot my book down here, but couldn't be bothered to go back upstairs,"
As he talked, Ast couldn't help but look at the scars on his face, they looked so similar to the ones Oscar had. She couldn't help but wonder if-
His eyes caught hers and she quickly looked away.
"So, how long have you been friends with the others?" She asked, trying to change the subject.
"A couple of years now, it was originally just Sirius and James but they let me in and Peter came along soon after,"
Ast checked her watch again, 3:46 a.m. and said, "I think we should get to sleep, so goodnight... Again."
She got up to leave and he said goodnight back to her. She headed back to her dormitory where Marlene's snoring had been getting progressively louder as the night wore on. She crawled back into bed after making sure that the door was firmly shut and tried to fall asleep. However questions about Remus's scars buzzed in her mind.
The next morning, Ast woke up to Lily violently shaking her awake. Ast popped an eye open and saw the red-head all up in her face. She blinked a few times, not knowing what was going on until she remembered that she was at Hogwarts, and it was the first day of school.
She got up and got ready for the day. She grabbed her bag and said goodbye to the other girls, hoping to to speak to Remus before classes started. Or at the very least, see her brother at breakfast.
There were a few people in the common room, most of them were first years anxiously huddled up together, trying to remember where the Great Hall was. Sirius was sat by the dying fire, talking to a group of fourth-year girls. He noticed Ast and left the group to go and talk to her.
"Morning sunshine," he greeted, flashing Ast a cheeky smile.
"Morning to you too." She said.
She fiddled with her tie but couldn't seem to tie it properly. Durmstrang's uniform never consisted of ties, only warm winter clothes for the year round. Sirius's hands reached up and tied it for her.
"There," he said, straightening it up.
"Thanks. Where are the others?"
"They're still getting ready but I couldn't be bothered to wait for them. Do you want to head to breakfast now?"
