The day of the concert had finally arrived after what seemed like forever. We all woke up around 8:30 to our new friends pounding on the door. Apparently, they had been doing so for a solid 5 minutes before there was any sign of life from our room. We're all very heavy sleepers to say the least. We got ready for the day before heading back to the CN tower to redeem our tickets and see the rest of it. We ate lunch in the area, then went back to our hotel to get into our concert outfits and make up.
There was makeup, clothes, and hair products literally everywhere in the girls' hotel room. We all agreed to go to Sasha, Destiny, and Caitlyn's room to get ready, so we had lugged our things we needed over to their room.
Katie, Dakota and I had all chosen black dresses to wear. Mine had lace all over it. It was lower in the back but higher in the front, with a sash that tied in the back. It had four layers of lace, each a bit longer than the one before. I absolutely loved it! I found a red leather jacket to go with it, and tall, leather boots that matched the jacket. I had most of my hair curled, and up in a ponytail, minus a strand on each side. For makeup, I had foundation (obviously), eyeshadow that matched my hair, eyeliner, mascara, some blush, and dark red lipstick on. I was wearing my bullet set for accessories.
Katie's dress was the longest. It had a slip that came to her knees, but the tulle that covered it came just above her ankles. It had a silver belt with rhinestones that went with it. Her leather jacket was blue. She had tall brown boots on as well. Her makeup was pretty much the same as mine, only she went with a dark pink lipstick instead of red. For accessories, she wore a long, shimmery, silver necklace that fell in many strands, with earrings to match. She put the front half of her hair back in a ponytail, then curled it.
Dakota's dress was more like mine than Katie's. It was covered in black lace as well, and was higher in the front than the back. She had less layers of lace, and the patterns in the lace were more dominant. Her dress also had straps whereas mine was strapless. Her leather jacket was purple. She wore tall black leather boots that came to her knees. For accessories, she wore dangly gold star earrings with a matching necklace. Like Katie, the only difference in our makeup was the fact that she was wearing pinkish purple lipstick. Dakota had most of her hair down, minus a strand on each side of her head. She twisted and pinned them at the back of her head.
Sasha, Destiny, and Caitlyn went for a more casual approach, each wearing pants with a shirt.
Caitlyn was wearing ripped jeans with her shirt. While the torso part was solid black, the sleeves and upper chest area were simply fishnets. She had short black converse on for shoes. She wore a silver and black choker with matching earrings. She also had a silver snake bracelet with alexandrite eyes. As far as makeup went, she wore foundation, golden eyeshadow, cat style eyeliner, mascara, and dark magenta lipstick. She straightened her hair, then braided a small chunk of hair on either side of her head. She pinned it at the back of her head.
Destiny was also wearing ripped jeans and a black shirt. Her shirt was more simple, with only a criss cross near the neck. She wore shiny, black combat boots. She had a simple black choker and alexandrite studs. She wore the same snake bracelet as Caitlyn. For makeup, she wore foundation, shimmery blue eyeshadow, winged eyeliner, mascara, and burgundy lipstick. She also straightened her hair, twisting the top half of it into a bun.
Sasha decided to wear black leather pants with a jean vest. Underneath the jean vest, she wore a grey, long sleeved shirt. She wore short, black, studded leather boots. She too, wore the identical snake bracelet. Actually, they had them on when we met them and they never took them off... I found it a bit strange, but chose to ignore it. She wore foundation, shimmery purple eyeshadow, eyeliner on both lids, mascara, and dark magenta lipstick. She decided to do two french braids in her hair.
We looked at the time to see that we had to leave in less than 30 minutes. Katie, Dakota and I cleaned up our things, and headed back to our room. Grabbing the things we would need (iPods, money, the things we wanted to get signed, our tickets, water bottles, and makeup for touch ups!) we headed to the venue with the others. I let my parents know that we were on our way right before we left.
You could not miss the venue of you tried. There were people lined up far from the venue, chanting the lyrics to various Green Day and My Chemical Romance songs. We just took it all in, chanting along with them as we passed. Since we had VIP passes, we were able to skip the line. We grabbed some pictures outside the venue before showing the security guards our passes. They let us inside and we walked through the doors. The first thing we saw was the merchandise table, towards which we headed. We bought the few albums and shirts we didn't already have, then paid for them. We were then informed that we would be meeting both bands- and in 20 minutes. We were all a mix of nervous, excited, and curious. I think we were mostly excited though. We were all pacing a little or fidgeting a bit. The worst part was that it seemed like the longest 20 minutes of my life. It seemed much longer than the time between when our principal announced our school's worst nightmare and when we heard the first shots.
I think the difference was that the day of the shooting, all I felt was fear, dread, and adrenaline. The day of the concert, however, I felt like I was on top of the world with excitement, mixed with a hint of nervousness, and the anticipation of finally meeting Green Day and My Chemical Romance as well. So when a security guard came to get Katie, Dakota and I to meet the people we had been looking up to for years, none of it seemed real. Apparently, we were going together because our tickets were bought together, so Sasha, Caitlyn and Destiny were going right after us, followed by the others who bought meet and greet tickets.
We walked down a long, white hallway with our arms linked and our heads held high. We had been through so much in the past few months, but it was time to let it go. I felt a wave of bliss wash over me, and the horrors of the shooting left my mind for a few seconds. I decided something as we were walking- we weren't victims- we were warriors. The shooting was just a tough battle, but we had overcome it. And the prize at the end of it all? Well, we were about to claim it.
"Alright, are you girls ready?" the security guard asked. We all nodded. He smiled at us.
"Enjoy every second of your time together, they've been waiting to meet you." He explained.
"Seriously?" Katie asked, speaking for the three of us. The security guard just nodded and opened the door."Oh my God it's actually you!" The members of Green Day, My Chemical Romance, and the three of us all said at once.
