<Dom's POV>
She was saying that she didn't care but I could feel her slipping away. She wasn't joking around with me, we weren't teasing each other.
God! Why did I let this happen? Why did I have to hook up with this chick? I don't even really remember what made me do it in the first place.
<flashback>
"I hope you're not forgetting to say grace," I state firmly.
The whole family turns around. Mia reacts as the first one, immediately jumping up wrapping her arms around me. She looked so pretty.
"Dom!" She squealed.
"You're back dawg," Leon exclaimed, joining our hug.
After we said our hellos and I'd gotten all the hugs, I was missing the presence of a certain Latina.
"Where's Letty?" I ask, causing Mia to grin.
"She's with her uncle right now, left this morning that's why she couldn't speak to you on the phone."
Ah. That explained her weird behaviour.
---------------------
Mia didn't let go of my arm for the entire weekend. She was glued to my side, her fingers grazing over my shaved head, which she did not like that much.
"Mia, I'm going to go talk to Vince," I peeled her off of me and went to Vince.
"So, how has the garage been?"
"We'll talk about it when Letty's back."
So, I see. Letty had been the boss around here. Of course. I smiled at the thought of her.
"When is she coming back?"
"Five days."
He grins. "Missed her that much, huh?"
I didn't reply. Things had been getting serious between me and Letty before I left for Lompoc, but I had no idea what was going on. Nobody had told me whether Letty was dating anyone, so I didn't know where she stood.
But honestly? I had spent most days in Lompoc clinging to the hope that when I'd be outside again, I'd be with Letty.
<flashback ends>
------------------------
"Owen, my man!" Leon hugged this guy as he walked towards us. I didn't recognize him. Vince and Jesse waved at him while continuing to work on their cars.
His eyes met mine for a second, holding the stare between us. He didn't back down. I liked that in people. I thought he was going to introduce himself since he was standing in my garage.
"Tonight, it's only Letty," he stated firmly, ignoring me. What the hell was he talking about?
"No dawg, leave Letty. You can take Vince or me, it's too dangerous."
"Ha!" Owen laughed a raspy chuckle, "We both know that Letty has more balls than both of you combined."
I didn't like his dominant alpha male behaviour but he surely was right about Letty.
"That's too bad, cause she ain't here right now," Vince said in a friendly tone, showing that they were all familiar with each other.
"Yeah, I know, she's at my place."
"What?" I yelled loudly. What was Letty doing with that dude? Was she dating this guy? I must say, I didn't think guys like him were Letty's type.
To be honest, I never pictured Letty going out with someone except me.
"She'll be back tomorrow with four grand, just like always," he stated.
"Bring Letty back now," I demand.
The guy introduced as Owen frowned at me: "Who's this?"
"Ah, Dom. This is Owen. Owen, this is Dom," Vince introduced us. In contrast to my face, which was getting tenser by the second, he raised his eyebrows and began to grin.
"You're Dom." He laughed to himself as if he knew something about me that I didn't. "I gotta say, dude, you look exactly like I imagined."
"Who is this guy?" I ask Vince.
"He's cool. Owen, just leave and bring Letty home after tonight, all right?"
"No can do. She wanted to stay. So she stays." He shrugged his shoulders in a cocky manner.
--------------------
"So, wait? She is staying with Owen tonight?" Mia asked bewildered.
"No. She ain't. Where is she?"
Vince, Leon, and Mia remained silent, refusing me to give me Owen's address. What was going on with this world? Had everyone taken Letty's side in this fight?
"You can't get her Dom, she's a grown-up."
"Just because she turned 18 doesn't mean she grew up, she's still behaving like a little girl."
"Dawg you gotta calm down," Leon started arguing with me.
"Calm down?" I yelled, how could he expect me to calm down, when some weird dude, who apparently was friends with Leon and the guys, was banging Letty whilst I was sitting in prison.
"Let her go, man, it's over," Vince mumbled, heading back into the house.
--------------------
<Two days later>
Letty and I were sitting on the couch watching a movie I wasn't paying attention to. As always we weren't talking, avoiding eye contact, or interacting at all costs. We had somehow found a way to be in the same room together without immediately starting a fight.
Although I was glad that the yelling had stopped, the encounter with Owen the other day was driving me insane. Was she dating that guy? Were they hooking up? Are they just friends?
"So, you and that Owen guy dating?" I asked Letty, trying to sound casual.
"And I finally thought we could move on," Letty replied ironically, rolling her eyes.
"You should tell me"
"Like you told me about Sam?"
"How often do I have to apologize for that, Letty?"
"I don't want you to apologize, I want you to shut up and let me watch this movie."
"Fine, don't tell me. I don't even care."
Letty scoffed, knowing that she and Owen was the only thing on my mind.
