<Letty's POV>
"Oh, Letty. I'm so sorry," two arms wrapped tightly around me, making it hard to breathe.
"I'm fine."
"No, you're not, you just went through a break-up," Mia was acting like a mother, immediately consoling me as if I were some fragile baby.
"Mia, it was mutual. We just didn't work out. That stuff happens."
"I wouldn't know what I would do if Brian and I broke up," it would break my heart, literally.
"Well, that's different." Just like Dom and I breaking up was different, I thought. I hadn't really cared enough for Owen to get really hurt by our relationship.
"Letty, I'll tell you what we'll do. We're going to get some ice cream, your favorite flavor and we'll watch expandables."
"No, I don't need-" I paused, Mia hated the expandables, "you're willing to watch expandables with me."
"After a heartbreak like this, of course."
"Mia!" Could she please stop exaggerating like that? "I am not heartbroken, I am fine. The break up happened three weeks ago, it's no big deal."
"Whaattt???" She screamed so loudly that Leon came rushing downstairs.
"What happened?" Leon yelled worried.
"Letty didn't tell me that she and Owen broke up THREE weeks ago, how could you?" She asked. Fuck, this is exactly why I didn't open up to people. They made a drama out of everything.
"Don't scare me like that Mia, I thought one of you was seriously hurt," Leon grumbled going back upstairs again. "Sorry about that break up though, I liked Owen."
That was so typical, he was sadder about the fact that Owen wasn't going to be around anymore. That's why I loved Leon, he was low key, calm, and collected. "Dom's gonna be stoked though," he added quietly, thinking that I couldn't hear him.
An hour later, Mia was groaning next to me. "When is this movie going to be over? I am dying!"
"Come on, we haven't even got to the best scene yet."
"Letty, I agree. Your break up isn't that bad, let's just go to the mall."
I shushed Mia and continued watching the movie. Shoot outs with Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham were heaven to me.
"What's going on here?" Dom asked. For him, this has to look really weird. Mia and I curled up under one blanket, a tub of Jen and Berry's ice cream in front of us, the TV blasting at full volume.
"Nothing," Mia and I said in unison. Dom was a drama queen too. Not in Mia's worried, compassionate way, but in a protective, older-brother way.
"This isn't nothing. This is your break up ritual." He paused shortly, his head putting a few things together. Then he snapped. "What did Brian do?"
I could already picture Dom bashing Brian's head in.
"Brian didn't do anything."
"Wait, but if Brian didn't do anything-" he looked at me. "You and Owen?"
I nodded. "Three weeks ago, it's no big deal."
"Why didn't you tell me?" Dom asked, earning Mia's approval. She stood up, sensing that this was about to become a private conversation.
"Because it's none of your business."
"You know that it damn well is my business," he argued. "Did you uh-," he paused "after we talked?"
He was referring to his apology. Of course, Dom would center my break up around him again.
"No, I had already broken up with him."
"Oh, okay," I thought he would leave it with that, but something happened. I could see it in his eyes, a short tingling of excitement and hope in his eyes. The same glistening he sometimes had before he went to prison. "Why'd you two break up?"
"We didn't fit together well, I guess."
"That's not a real answer."
"It is."
"Letty," he barked back, demanding a serious answer from me. Why couldn't he ever let things go?
"Dom," I replied back with the same intensity.
"Fine," his typical response when he was upset but didn't know how to deal with it. Usually, he would have walked away but instead, he sat down on the sofa next to me and started watching the movie.
-----------------
The credits started playing and Dom finally started talking again.
"Why'd you break up with him Letty?"
"Why can't you just let this go?" He was starting to piss me off. It was none of his business.
"Letty!"
"You know what Dom, since my answer to your question clearly doesn't satisfy you, why don't you ask the question that you actually want to ask me."
He bit his lip nervously and scooted a little closer to me on the couch. "Did you break up with him because of me?" His fingertips started grazing over my thigh.
"No," I whispered, trying to ignore the tingling spreading in my body. Ugh, I hated the effect Dom had on me.
"You're lying," he inched closer, basically crawling towards me like a lion who just found its prey.
"No, I'm not," I whispered, suppressing a moan as Dom continued drawing circles on my sensitive skin.
"I," he spread my legs. "Don't," he pulled me underneath him. "Believe you," he lowered himself on top of me. Our lips met in a passionate kiss, sparking the feeling that I only knew from being with him.
------------
"Y'all had some fun, huh?" Leon's voice woke me up, confusing me. I opened my eyes hesitantly, slowly remembering what had happened.
I was lying on the couch in the living room, staring at the soft backside. I could hear Leon and Dom talking in the kitchen.
"So, you and Letty are together now, or something?" Leon asked Dom.
I didn't move pretending to be still asleep.
"I don't know, Letty and I never really talk about those things."
"Maybe you should. How long have you been in love with her?"
Hah, as if Dom would ever tell Leon that he was in love with me.
"For how long have you known?" Dom replied, leaving me speechless.
"That you're in love?"
"That you're in what?" I shot up into an upright position, startling both of them.
"Haven't I told you before not to eavesdrop on other people's conversations?"
"No, no, no," I stood up towards him, "You're not getting out of this one, Dom."
"What do you mean?" Was he seriously pretending like he didn't admit that he was in love with me?
"You're really playing the dumb card right now?"
He didn't answer. The familiar feeling of disappointment and sadness crept its way up my body. How could I have possibly thought that Dom would admit to his feelings? I tried looking in Dom's eyes, but he was already staring at the floor, signalizing that he had no intention of talking to me.
I turned around, already knowing that the next few weeks in this house would be hell.
