I nodded and buckled my seatbelt. I am ready... or atleast I am trying to convince myself I am ready.
The drive to the airport was short, but I knew the 12 hour flight ahead of me was going to be anything but that. But I brought my headphones, so they will keep my company hopefully. Music always makes life a little easier for the time being.
Debbie said goodbye to me and I noticed she had tears in her eyes. "Kamron, I just want you to know that you beautiful and such a strong girl. You've been through so much, I hope it all works out for you. I care about you." She hugged me. I'm pretty sure social workers aren't supposed to get this physical, but I don't mind at all.
I hugged her back and thanked her for everything she had done for me.
"There will be a car waited for you at the airport. Good luck, Kamron!" She smiled and watched as I boarded the plane.
I took a seat by the window and watched as we took off. It was a bumpy ride at first but then was smooth. I watched as I left New York, the only home I've ever known, and I embarked on a new journey in my life.... California.
