Undeniable Chapter 9

He took in a deep breath and began.

"Okay so I'll do this in third person, just like you did, if that's okay?"

He looks to me and I nod. By this point, we had sat at the empty, circular table near the back doors. I just looked at him and urged him to start.

"This guy named Draco met this girl named Geena. She was really cool, they liked the same music, had interesting conversations. They linked up on this gaming app, competed in playing quizzes and he thought she was really smart, which she was, and still is. Eventually, he gave her his number so they had easier contact than from the app. She texted his phone and he saved her number, and she saved his. They texted till late that night and the same the next day. She seemed to be a really interesting person to talk to. She knew how to have a conversation and not let it die."

That made me feel good inside. At least there were certain aspects of me that he liked. Inside I just knew that he wouldn't like me for more than that, and part of me had to accept that. I just knew that I had to.

As I thought of this while Draco paused, I watched the hallway as Oliver walked to the bathrooms. I looked at him and eventually he glanced my way. He was wearing black pants and a dark blue polo as required by uniform rules, and black vans. His style was overall well put together. I also knew from experience that he cleaned up very well when he had to. His fluffy, black hair was untamed and fluffy which matched his face shape incredibly perfectly. He reached the bathroom, smiled, and gave me a thumbs up before walking into the doorway. I turned my attention back to Draco.

He was looking at me, waiting for my attention.

"This guy liked talking to her. She was cool and interesting. They texted almost every day for a week and the weird thing was, they did not talk that much during school. They had different social cliques minus a few common friends. Every now and then, they said hi and asked how each other's day was going, but after that, only a few conversations were made in person. He didn't know why but it didn't matter as much to him as it clearly did to her."

"He glanced at the girl few times and she glanced at him occasionally, too. They meant nothing to him. Merely a look of friends. An acknowledgement of her being a new friend in his life. He didn't know they meant anything to her. He didn't realize she felt anything for him. He simply didn't know. So anything that he talked to her about or any look that they shared had no meaning. It was just something that friends did."

Oliver walked out of the bathroom and Draco was looking down. I took that as my chance to not be rude and make a pouting face to Oliver from afar and he mocked making a bear hug for me. I mentally chuckled and returned my attention back to Draco who was still looking down.

"And then the day came that she confessed to him her feelings. He had no affiliation with any other woman in school or out of school, so this was new for him. She sat him down and confused the hell out of him because he had no idea what she planned on doing. Then the bomb was dropped on him and he felt like shit. He meant something to her and he didn't even realize it until the words left her mouth."

Of course he didn't realize it.

I took a breath and kept my composure.

"He didn't know how to handle that and he wasn't about to stick around that long to try. So he told her blatantly that he did not feel the same and he walked away not wanting to hear her response. And she didn't try to go after him. And he was happy about that.

"Until what she said settled in his head for good. He couldn't stop thinking about what she told him and how emotional she was towards him. It didn't go away and she didn't try bothering him again, yet he couldn't let it go. He acted like a total asshole and made her feel horribly after she was so honest. He needed to apologize to her for being rude and attempt to fix their friendship. So that was what he did- apologized. Yet what he said after that was the most stupid thing he has ever done."
