I press the buttons on the register, clicking and calculating the balance. I pull out some cash from the register and handed to the customer.

"Okay and here's your receipt" I said.

"Thank you" A young lady said.

She grabs the bag from the counter after putting all her items in while her little son was focused on a some DS game in his hands.

I take a look at my watch.

One hour left before I head home. Working an entire day as a cashier really gets me on the legs..

"Alright Grayson" I turn to face my boss, who just came from behind.

"You can leave now if ya want" My boss said.

I look at my boss, a bit confused. "Really?"

My boss smiles. "Yup. I got other plans today, so go ahead and skedaddle"

I smile back. "Alright"

I leave from the cash register to head off as I took my uniform off. I had an extra shirt underneath so I don't have to change when I get home. I exit out of the store and start to head home, feeling pretty satisfied with myself.

I thought about how good it feels to be let out early, even if it's just an hour early, I still felt good about it. Lost in my own little thoughts, I suddenly come to a stop when I saw a group of Ethan's friends vandalizing some abandoned white vehicle on the side of the street.

Oh man..

I quickly tuck my face away in my hoodie. I tuck my hands in as well and sped walk.

What am I going to do?! I thought.
No matter what, I can't let them see me.

"Aye!" One of them said.

I know that shout anywhere. I dashed right away when I heard Ethan's shout without a second thought. Ethan would always yell out to me like that around school, right before the chasing. Sometimes I'm not always lucky to escape..

But this time, I'm making sure this chase will end up lucky. I forced my legs to run wider and harder, feeling the adrenaline pump through my legs as I almost tripped along the way. I kept kicking and running like crazy, trying to max out my speed to outrun Ethan and his friends. I know Ethan is more athletic and faster than I am, but I didn't care. No matter how tired I get, or if my legs start crying, I keep pushing and forcing myself to keep running.

While running, an alley quickly caught my attention up ahead. I dashed and turn to the alley which I knew is a short cut to my house.

"Come back here you wuss!" Ethan said.

"Aye yo Bailey boy Gayson!" Another shouts out.

I reach the street in front of my house, roughly jumping over the fence and getting the keys of my pocket. My hand wouldn't stop shaking at this point, trying to fit the key in the key whole.

"Get in get in!" I said under my worm out breath.

I finally got the key in, quickly turning the nob like crazy then slamming the door right when I got in. I put a hand over my racing heart, as sweat start to seep out of my body. I try to calm my breathing while leaning against the door, feeling so relieved that I made it back home safe.
