Your POV
I woke up feeling eased by my previous day. It had been fairly good, the classes seemed decent. I wasn't expecting easy from a school like midtown but they didn't seem impossible to pass. Plus I'd made like 3 friends! Well, if Michelle counts. Nonetheless, I couldn't help but still feel a bit nervous for the day. I readied myself for the day before grabbing my bag and phone and stepping out into the kitchen.
"Bye mom!" I waved her goodbye. She had a very busy work schedule, but usually on mornings she was around, but she didn't have enough time to drive me to school and then go to work. I was okay with it though, her busy schedule granted me the permission to have uniformed sleepovers on the days she was busiest.
"Aren't you gonna eat breakfast?" She asked, concerned but I didn't have time to answer because I shut the door. I remembered what I told Peter and I realized I was being a bit of a hypocrite but oh well. I locked the door and looked over to Peter's door. Had he left yet? Would it be rude to not walk with him today? Or IS it weird to ask to walk with him again?
I shook all the questions out of my head. I might as well knock the door and see. I strode next door and knocked lightly. I heard shuffling behind the door and guessed it was Peter, by I was wrong.
The woman who opened the door most certainly wasn't Peter. "Hello can I help you?"
"Oh uh, my name is Y/N, I was looking for Peter," I responded
"Oh, one second", She stepped away from the door and made her way to what I remembered to be Peter's room.
"Peter, a girl named Y/N is waiting for you! Hurry up," She told him, loud enough for me to hear from the doorway."Coming!" I heard him respond. After around a minute or two he came out of his room, his hair messy.
He searched for his backpack and threw it over his shoulders when he found it. Then he took another burnt piece of toast, and held it in his mouth. He waved goodbye to the woman.
"Burnt toast yet again?" I laughed, intending to start conversation before any awkwardness could arise.
"There's nothing wrong with it! May does not know how to cook, but burnt toast tastes pretty good to me." He admitted taking a bite. I laughed.
"Maybe you should eat toasted toast, it might taste a little better," I joked, "and put some peanut butter or something on it," I suggested, knowing it would probably be better than plain burnt toast.
"Hm nice tip, maybe I'll try it." He shrugged, taking a bite.
We took the subway again, fortunately finding seats, however I was squeezed in quite tight, due to the person next to me, who seemed like they were beginning to fall asleep but I was sure they had enough manner to not.
"I'm betting you she'll fall asleep on your shoulder." Peter whispered
I snorted, "She will not"
"Five dollars, bet." He challenged
I smiled, "Alright Peter, five dollars it is!"
She ended up falling asleep on my shoulder. Peter snickered watching me sit uncomfortably as this stranger began to snore into my ear.
"You owe me five bucks!" He whisper-yelled
I rolled my eyes playfully and gave him the five bucks I was planning on saving to get good lunch. "Nicely played."
He smiled and gave me the five bucks back, never intending on keeping it in the first place.
"We made a bet, you get to keep the money." I insisted, being the fair person I was.
"I'm not gonna take your money on a little bet, I know you were gonna use it on lunch, don't worry about it, I'd rather you have a good lunch than get myself a sandwich from Delmar's." He smiled at me and slipped the money back into my hand. Weird how he knew what I wanted to spend my money on, but that wasn't the only thing that caught me eye.
So he was selfless
"Delmar's?" I asked curiously
"Oh Delmar's sells the best sandwiches in Queens! The place almost got burned down like 6 years ago but oh boy those sandwiches haven't changed a bit! They're delicious as ever..." Peter rambled more nonsense about this Delmar's place, and I couldn't help but smile. He really did seem like a nice guy, very bubbly and typically the type of person you'd want to be around.
It was easy to talk to him, and I had the intention of getting close to him. He seemed like the exact type of person you'd want to be your best friend. I had a feeling in the matter of a few months, he'd know everything there was to know about me. It would be nice to have someone who listened and who knew me in that way. I'd never had that before.
My mind drifted in to less pleasant things. My "friends" from my previous school. I'd been so miserable then when I surrounded myself with them. I'd been so closed off and melancholy even before my dad-
"So?" Peter interrupted my thoughts giving me a questioning look.
"Ah what?" I didn't want to seem rude, but I really hadn't heard what he said, I was to busy thinking about.. other things.
"Do you wanna come to Delmar's with me later?" He asked curiously, hoping for me to say yes.
"Sure why not," I smiled, my second day and I'd already been invited out, this was exciting!
"Great! You'll know exactly what I'm talking about when you try a sandwich!" He was convinced that these sandwiches really were a gift from the gods.
I smiled as I realized we'd reached our stop. I tapped the lady's shoulder to get up and she mumbled something about missing her stop. I just awkwardly waddled away not wanting her to get angry. I walked the rest of the way with Peter, just talking about little things we'd heard lately. We spotted Ned waiting at the front of the school and he joined us, the conversation transforming into really whatever there was to talk about.
The bell rung and I walked to Algebra with Peter. I had three classes with him, 1st, 2nd, and 6th which was nice. I got to sit next to him in Algebra. I didn't struggle with the subject it's just sometimes I would lose my focus so him being there to help me could be really helpful. The day passed quick, and as I exited the school, noticing Peter waiting for me.
Then I remembered I agreed to go to Delmar's with him, which was great because I didn't have much homework tonight, so I could waste some of my time with him. I was a little worried knowing it wasn't the safest side of Queens, but I mean, what's the worst that can happen
Right?
i really Wanna continue with this story but updates are probably going to be very mediocre😃🤟
