Peter's POV
I held the door for Y/N and myself as we walked into the already crowded hallways of the school. First day of school and the first day of being a junior for the both of us. Actually, I hadn't asked her if she was a junior."Hey Y/N?" I asked addressing her by her first name to engrave her name into my brain.
"Yeah?"
"Are you a junior?" I asked. I was sure she wasn't a freshman, but there was a possibility of her being a sophomore.
"Yeah, I am," She answered
"Alright that's cool, we might have some classes together." I didn't want this to seem like a one time thing, me talking to her. I wanted her to have a friend, and if I was her first then that would be even better. She seems like a really nice person and our walk together was fun.
"Speaking of classes, do you know where the admissions office is? I need to get my schedule."
"Oh yeah the office is actually over there." I pointed to the office on the left side of the hallway.
"Oh okay, thank you," She nodded as she began walking in the direction I'd pointed her to. She stopped in her tracks and turned back for a second, "Lunch?"
"Yeah yeah yeah of course," I reassured her as we continued our way to our desired destinations, mine being my locker. Soon enough Ned creeped up behind me.
"Join me and we shall build my LEGO Death Star! Again." He asked the last part abruptly
"No way, you got another one?" I asked in disbelief.
"Well since the rest of the pieces are scattered somewhere around your room I decided to just buy- Wait. You look happier than usual." He pointed out.
"Do I?" I asked, not having noticed any change in my attitude.
"Yeah dude, something good happen? Did you catch a bad guy?" He whispered with a grin.
"No, not yet today. I did happen to meet a girl named Y/N though," I told him, realizing I'd need to tell him she'd be spending the lunch with us anyway.
"Oh, do you like her?" He shrugged assuming the best, knowing I'd just gotten over Liz.
"What? No, I just met her dude. She lives next door-"
"The girl next door ay? I like it!" He nodded in approval.
"I don't like her Ned. I think she's chill and fun to hang out with. I invited her to have lunch with us! So you can meet her soon."
"Aw come on dude I don't wanna be third wheeling!-" he sighed
"nED!!"
Your POV
I waited patiently for my schedule. It took a lot longer than I thought, so I was slightly late for class. I was excused, of course. But, I was relieved to see a friendly face. Peter was in my first period! Someone was already sitting next to him though, so that's a bummer. He smiled at me and I smiled back. So he acknowledged my presence then.
The two hours in class passed fairly quick. My schedule seemed pretty okay. For first I had Biology 2A. Second, which I had tomorrow due to block schedule I had Algebra 2B. Third, my next class, I had History. Fourth Chemistry 2A. Fifth, Computer Science Basics A. Sixth, I had PE. Easy enough, right?
So after History I had lunch. I was a nervous wreck. Peter had promised me lunch with him but in all those TV shows the new kid always had a problem with the cool kids. I grabbed a lunch tray and chose what I wanted for lunch before skimming the cafeteria. It was so clear who everyone was and where they stood in the social status pyramid. But Peter wasn't in any of those tables. I was about to give up considering how packed the cafeteria was, but then I spotted him. I hesitated for a moment, I didn't want to make anything weird for his friend group but sometimes you have to take your chances right?
I took in a deep breathe and speed walked over to his table with the intention of avoiding everyone else.
"Peter!" I called, a few tables away from his.
Peter's POV
I looked towards the direction of whoever had called my name, and saw Y/N. I waved and smiled at her, leaving a confused Ned about to shower me with questions.
"Who's that?" He asked surprised
"That's Y/N!" I answered
"You never said she was pretty!"
"Well yeah because it doesn't matter whether she's pretty or not!" I said in between grit teeth, since she was already approaching us.
"We should stop staring before it gets creepy, though." Ned whispered
"Too late, you guys are losers. Again. Didn't you just have a crush on Liz?" MJ questioned not taking her eyes off of her book.
"I don't like her though, she's just my friend!" I responded agitated with MJ and Ned
"Hey!" Y/N smiled, "Can I sit?"
"Yeah." Ned and I responded at once
"Whatever" MJ shrugged and continued with her book
"Don't worry about MJ, she's just a little grumpy sometimes." I said reassuring Y/N
"At least I'm not a creep." MJ murmured under her breath.
"Oh um, I'm Ned!" Ned stick his hand out, gesturing do her to shake his hand.
2nd POV
"Y/N." You shook his hand and laughed at the gesture. "Very mature for meeting a fellow high school student."
"Oh yeah I'm awkward, we're all awkward." He admitted referring to the entire table.
"Then I'll fit right in," You giggled as you slipped your backpack off, setting it aside before taking a seat.
You didn't know how much fun you could possibly have within 30 minutes just talking to people. Even MJ casually joined in the conversation or snickered at the bits and pieces she managed to catch while reading her book.
Maybe high school won't be that bad after all
Yay another chapter lmao I hope you like the story so far. Sorry for not updating yesterday smh. I'll try to update every two days
