"Shouta... He... Well..." Hizashi began, trying to find the best way to tell the poor kids. They'd already been through so much, they didn't need this as well.

"He's okay... Right?" Kyoka asked, already starting to cry and Hizashi could tell she was thinking of the worst.

"Well... He's... How do I... I'm not sure if... He's okay." Hizashi told her, still not looking any of them in the eyes.

"What do you mean you're not sure?!" Shoto exclaimed angrily, anger overpowering the fear and sadness.

"They said he nearly died and that he still could die. He's in intensive care and I haven't seen him. All I really know is that there's a pretty high chance he could... Die..." Hizashi replied, trying his damn best not to start crying.

"DAD!" Four teens exclaimed as they ran into their father's hospital room.

All of those children went straight over to Shouta and hugged him tightly, never wanting to let him go. Shouta chuckled at them, wrapping an arm around them in a hug just as affectionate. Shouta looked down worriedly at Shoto who had started shaking. Shouta knew his son was crying so he hugged a little tighter to comfort him. Dark came from Fumikage and nuzzled Shouta as well. Nemuri and Toshinori stood in the doorway smiling at the kids and Shouta. The kids started going on about how scared they were and the like. Shouta just laughed it off and told them he was okay.

The past three days had been filled with panic and fear. After finding out there was nearly no way of telling whether Shouta would be okay the kids couldn't stop worrying. They couldn't do their work or even find the motivation to do anything sometimes. They were just happy their dad was alive

He was alive for now.

It was something they'd kept from the kids but Shouta did still have a rather high chance of death. Shouta knew and so did Nemuri, Toshinori and Hizashi and they all shared the same hope that Shouta would live. Honestly, though, he was doing worse than Toshinori by the looks of things. He could barely stand on his own and sometimes had sudden memory lapses and forgot things like who Nemuri was and, at one point, his own name. These happened randomly and without warning. One moment he was chatting with Nemuri the next he had no idea who she was. The doctors said it may have been something to do with the villain or villains that attacked him.

"Where's Hizashi...?" Shouta asked suddenly, realising his husband wasn't in the room.

"Well... Shouta, he..." Nemuri started, trying to find the right way to say it.

"Detective Tsukauchi thinks it'd be best if he isn't around you..." Toshinori said for Nemuri who had started to avoid Shouta's glare.

"Why?!" Shouta yelled at the two, the four children moving to both let go of him and sit on his bed.

"He hurt you Shouta... The detective doesn't think it's safe." Nemuri replied, still feeling awful for it happening.

"Why does he get to decide?! I need Zashi... He could kill a thousand people and I'd still love him. I don't care if he hurt me." Shouta's harshness diminished suddenly and he looked down at his lap before adding in a mutter, "I want Zashi..."

"I'll go talk to Tsukauchi..." Toshi sighed, giving in to Shouta who somehow managed to be one of the sweetest people he knew.

"I'm sorry..." Shouta mumbled, looking away from Hizashi who just looked at Shouta in confusion.

"For what? You haven't done anything." Hizashi told him matter-of-factly, shaking his head a little.

"They said... The villain said... That the only reason they were attacking me was because I got in your way... I got in your way, got myself hurt and just caused more trouble... So I'm sorry." Shouta explained to the blonde who just looked absolutely dumbfounded.

"Why would you listen to a villain? You haven't done anything wrong. The only thing you caused was a bit, well a lot, of panic from the kids. That's all. So don't think you did something wrong."

"Sho? Hey, what's wrong?" Nemuri asked, concerned for her friend.

"I'm scared..." Shouta replied quietly.

"Why?" Nemuri smiled, shaking her head a little.

"Something's wrong. I know it." Shouta answered, eyes wandering the room.

"What makes you say that?" Usually, she might have put it down to a change in surroundings. If Shouta had moved rooms. Unfamiliar territory most often leads Shouta to believe something was wrong. Most times, admittedly, he was right. Most times he felt something was wrong. He just seemed good at guessing those things.

"I don't know... I just feel like it's safe here. Villains probably know where I am and, through some persuasion, could get to me. In my state, I can't really do anything." Shouta shrugged, seemingly passing it off as ridiculous. Nemuri on the other hand suddenly went into high-alert.

Usually, if Shouta felt he or the people around him were unsafe he was right. He'd had the same feeling before the USJ incident and the training camp.

Unfortunately, Shouta was right.

Nemuri had left, after some convincing that Shouta would be fine, and Hizashi was with Shouta instead. Hizashi had left the room for something and, not really having a choice, left Shouta in his room. Only a genius could have predicted a villain would walk into the hospital and demanded Aizawa Shouta's room. Nobody could have guessed that they had a particularly awful goal.

"Sir! He has a gun don't-"

"I have a hero license." Hizashi retorted before stepping into the room and closing the door. Hizashi stopped dead at the sight of a villain he knew holding a gun to his husband's head.

"There you are!" The villain exclaimed, rolling his eyes. "Where is it?"

"Where's what?" Hizashi demanded.

"You know what I mean. The boss is getting impatient and I don't want to have to deal with a couple hundred people dead. We don't want him throwing a tantrum." The villain was clearly causing Shouta a headache by speaking as loudly as he was.

"I don't have it with me! I was going to give it to you tonight." Hizashi told him, trying his best not to raise his voice.

"It's either that or your husband's life. Which will it be, hero?!" Hizashi was nearly 100% sure the villain was raising his voice on purpose just to hurt Shouta.

"I don't have it! I told you I'll give you it tonight!" Hizashi was just losing his goddamn temper at this point, making it rather difficult to keep his voice down.

"Fine! You're lucky I have that long." And with that, the villain was gone, using his teleportation quirk as a getaway.

Once everyone had calmed down and Shouta and Hizashi were finally left alone again, Shouta couldn't help but wonder about that encounter. Yes, he was aware of what Hizashi had been up to but the didn't answer everything.

"Zash?" Shouta asked, making Hizashi look at him, wanting him to continue. "Can I ask you a question?" Hizashi nodded and let Shouta speak. "What did he want?" At that, Hizashi looked away.

"Hero patrol schedule."

"Why did he want to kill me?"

"Because I care about you more than anyone else."

Shouta hugged Hizashi's waist and put his head on his shoulder, nuzzling into the crook of his neck. Shouta made a small noise, describable almost as a whimper. Hizashi looked at him concernedly, only to find his husband crying into his shoulder. Hizashi pulled Shouta to him and hugged him tightly.

"Let them arrest me Shouta. It'll be better for you..." Hizashi begged into the other's hair.

Shouta shook his head.

"I'm not letting you go... No matter what you do..."
