Carter P.O.V.

"Carter son," Peter frowned, the only one to notice my movements. "Where are you going?"

"I just wanna get in the car with detective. I need to know what's going on." I explained.

They all gave each other suspicious looks then glanced back at me hesitantly.

"I won't do anything stupid to jeopardise Valerie, I promise." I plead.

"Okay." Will eventually nodded in support of me. "Keep us updated with them. And we'll run you over if you even think about turning in another direction besides that cop car."

I nodded, slipping out quietly. With my head ducked down, I crossed the street and then briskly stalked up ahead towards the vehicle. Detective Young spotted me and opened the door, pulling me inside quickly.

"Mr. Bryson! What are you doing here?!" He reprimanded. "It's not safe and we need to keep a low profile. Is anyone else here?"

"Sorry, I just really need updates. Is she there? Is he there?"

"Breathe. Please keep out of harm's way and let us do our jobs. Is anyone else here?"

I nodded outside to the street. "Yes, they're in the audi over there, but they won't be an issue. They're just waiting."

The van was filled with five cops plus the detective, making six. There were all kinds of tech in the van. The type of stuff you see in spy movies.

He pinched his brow before eventually sighing. "You can stay because we don't wanna risk you being out again. But please stay in this spot, don't touch anything and do not interrupt."

"Okay. Thankyou, I will. Please tell me if she's there."

"We have reason to believe she's there." He admitted. Every muscle in my body tensed and I looked out towards the direction of the house.

So fucking close.

He pulled out some crumpled pieces of paper and showed me them. "This is hers isn't it? Her signature and designs?"

I nodded slowly, running my fingers over the grey of the sketch as I became overwhelmingly consumed with emotion. God she's fucking here! They were dated from yesterday and today.

"We found it outside on the side of the house when the guys were bugging the place and doing recon. Looks like she threw it outside from a small window- most likely a bathroom."

I put my chin in my hands, leaning forward on my elbows. "God..."

"It was actually a very smart move."

"She is..." I whispered.

"Our thermal cameras have detected one heat signature in the house, this leads us to believe she is located in some sort of cellar or basement underground where we cannot see through. Our plan is to go covertly through a back door in the home because he is closest to the front. Two of my guys will also be stationed at the front to bust in if anything goes awry. One of my guys will stay in the van to monitor. You too will stay in the van- that is crucial. And I'll be leading the rest of my team in."
