"Did you see the Hogwarts Hogwash from yesterday?" Carri asked as I dealt out the cards, and I shook my head.
"Fawn gave me a copy last night, but I didn't have time to read it," I said, and we began to play the game.
"The results for the contest were posted," Carri said quietly, "And me and Oliver were chosen as the cutest couple in Hogwarts."
I winced. "What did Oliver say?"
"That of course we were the cutest couple, and then he told me he loved me again," She said miserably, "Oh, Glinda, what am I going to do?"
"You need to break up with him," I pressed, "Unless you want to keep dating him?"
"I just don't know!" She frowned and I put my cards down. "I really like him, I do, but I just don't know if I feel the same way anymore."
"Hey, it's going to be okay," I said, reaching over to give her a side hug. "If there's anything I've learned from you two, it's that relationships can be complicated and that's ok. I know I don't know much about being in a relationship-" I said, and Carri snorted loudly.
"Glinda, you've barely dated anyone."
"Yes, yes, I know," I said dryly, "But I do know that both of you care a lot about each other, and you really need to ta-"
A large bang on the table made us jump, and we both glared at David, who looked one spell from murdering someone. "You see Hogwarts Hogwash from yesterday?"
"I haven't," I said icily, "But I'm beginning to think I should be more on top of it if everyone's such a fan. Why?"
"There's an interesting article you might want to read," David said, and Carri perked up, plastering on a fake smile. I raised my eyebrow at her sudden change in demeanor.
"Is it the headliner about me and Oliver being picked for the cutest couple? 'Cause we were just talking about it!" David began shaking his head before she finished speaking.
"Not that, but I did see that," David replied, and pulled out a crumpled copy. "There's an article in there talking trash about some of the kids in Slytherin - including me."
"Is it all Slytherin?" I asked as Carri grabbed the paper, and David shook his head.
"No, there are a couple of other kids. A seventh year Ravenclaw is mentioned, I think."
"I didn't see this yesterday," Carri frowned, and read the title out loud. "Pureblood Fanatics In Hogwarts. How horrible! They include you in the article?"
"Let me see," I said, and Carri handed me the paper. The title was bold, and a picture of several Slytherin's huddled around a fireplace filled the right side of the article's space.
PUREBLOOD FANATICS IN HOGWARTS by ANONYMOUS
Slytherin is well known for their pureblood values and tendency towards practicing the dark arts in magic. For several years, the rise in these fanatical ideals has already contributed towards one war - and tensions never eased. Now, with the rise of a new fanatical leader, it seems some of our Hogwarts students have decided to follow the path of their parents, while others are paving their own way, influenced by their peers will and ambition.
These students, mostly sixth and seventh years, often meet in the Slytherin Common Room or Library to discuss their plans to join the newest threat modern wizard society is facing. In the picture, Severus Snape, Evan Rosier, Alecto and Amycus Carrow, Wilbert Avery, Edwin Mulciber, Regulus Black, and David Phillip are discussing what future restrictions would best be put on muggleborns who enter Hogwarts - particularly on their family members. Most of these boys have strong familial connections to a group called Death Eaters, who are under suspicion for practicing illegal dark magic.
